Job Summary:
The Field Technician 1 is responsible for supporting the safe and efficient operation of coal handling and fuel supply systems within an industrial power plant. This role includes inspecting, monitoring, and operating coal handling equipment, conveyor systems, fuel transfer lines, and limestone drying process equipment. The technician assists with installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and routine operational tasks while ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and operational standards.
Responsibilities:
- Safely inspect, monitor, and operate coal handling systems, including conveyor systems and fuel transfer equipment.
- Collect, prepare, and document fuel samples according to plant procedures.
- Operate limestone drying process equipment and related systems.
- Assist with routine preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
- Monitor equipment performance and report abnormal conditions to supervisors.
- Maintain accurate operational logs, inspection reports, and maintenance documentation.
- Follow all established safety, environmental, and operational procedures.
- Support housekeeping activities to maintain a safe and efficient work environment.
- Participate in training programs to enhance technical knowledge and job skills.
- Assist plant operations personnel to support reliable plant performance.
- Identify and communicate equipment issues or deficiencies found during inspections and work assignments.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- 0 to 3 years of experience in industrial, mechanical, power generation, or manufacturing environments.
- Technical diploma or equivalent qualification preferred.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and understanding of industrial equipment and systems.
- Ability to follow standard operating procedures, safety requirements, and work instructions.
- Valid driver's license may be required based on site requirements.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to operational excellence.
- Good communication and documentation skills.

Special Considerations:
- Frequent standing, walking (including on inclined walkways), sitting, lifting up to 50 pounds, pushing, pulling, and climbing stairs, ladders, and elevated structures.
- Work in industrial power plant or material handling environment with exposure to coal dust, noise, vibration, and moving mechanical equipment.
- Use of required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Adherence to all company safety, environmental, and operational policies and procedures.
- Continuous balance, depth perception, and field vision required for working on elevated platforms and operating mobile equipment.
Scheduling:
- Work schedule may involve shifts and requires flexibility to support plant operations.
- On-call duties may be required based on operational needs.
