    Chevron’s Shale & Tight Business is accepting online applications for the position of Field Specialist Apprentice  located in multiple locations, through Specified August 17th, 2026, at 11:59 PM (Central Standard Time).    

     

    The Field Specialist Apprenticeship is designed to build technical skills in the production operations discipline and gain hands-on experience in field operations. As part of the program, apprentices will work with a range of equipment and systems such as production facilities, production wells, water disposal and compressors, artificial lift systems (gas lift, ESP, rod pump and plunger), VRUs, pumps and more, providing valuable exposure to real-world applications in the industry. 

     

    Through a combination of structured training and immersive on-the-job learning, Apprentices are introduced to operating, troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining oil and gas production in partnership with Field Operations, Integrated Operations Center, and Maintenance and Reliability team members. The position provides direct exposure to the Chevron Way Values and the strong safety culture that defines the Shale & Tight Business Unit. 

     

    Apprentices will work closely with a dedicated mentor, complete two assignments across different operational areas to develop a broad understanding of how teams and functions work together to safely deliver production and minimize downtime and will also participate in computer-based and classroom training.  

     

    This is a temporary 6‑month field-based position. 
      

    Required Qualifications 

      

    • High School Diploma or equivalent 

    • Must have a valid Driver's License 

    • Ability and willingness to Workday and night shift work, weekends, and holidays based on assigned work schedule. 

    • Live within 50 miles of the work location or willingness to relocate within 50 miles of the work location for the duration of the apprenticeship 

    • This is a Safety Sensitive Position. Candidates must demonstrate personal commitment to Incident and Injury Free Operations with a proven record in Safety and Reliability. 

     
    Preferred Qualifications 

      

    • Applicants must meet at least one of the following: complete an Applied Associates of Science degree (such as Lease Operator, Petroleum Process Technology, Natural Gas Compression, or related field) OR have equivalent education or military training OR finish a certificate program (such as Lease Operator, Petroleum Process Technology, Natural Gas Compression, or related field) with previous oil & gas or similar industry experience. Additionally, a minimum GPA of 2.5 in core classes is , and transcripts must be uploaded to the applicant’s online profile 

    • Previous experience with reliability, safety and/or environmental process related issues. 

    • Previous experience with pneumatic/electronic instrumentation 

    • Basic knowledge in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and an aptitude for learning new software applications. 

    • Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with a diverse team of coworkers, contractors, and internal and external customers. 

     
     

    IMPORTANT NOTE 

     

    As part of the application process, you will be required to take an assessment that measures aptitude and work styles. We recommend you allow approximately 45 minutes to complete the assessment in one sitting. If you need to exit, your progress will be saved. 

     

    You will be immediately directed to the testing portal upon submitting your application, at which point you will have 72 hours to complete the online assessment.   

     

    Once complete, your assessment score will be valid for 180 days. 

     

    Should you reapply for another Job Requisition within this timeframe that includes the Operations Assessment, you will be required to complete the application process and then click on the assessment link. This will resubmit your previous results 

     

    Candidates will need to successfully complete a post-offer/pre-placement drug and alcohol screening, background check, physical, functional capacity examination, as well as pre-placement verification of the information and qualifications provided during the selection process.
