Field Services Technician - Fiber Telecommunications

Field Service Technician III supports the installation, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of mission-critical fiber optic telecommunications infrastructure. This role is responsible for supporting transport networks, optical systems, IP networking, and critical infrastructure across carrier, data center, and enterprise environments. The technician performs field-based work including customer turn-ups, preventive maintenance, emergency restoration, and advanced network troubleshooting while maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality. This position requires a self-motivated professional who can work independently, travel to customer sites, and participate in a rotating on-call schedule.

• Install, commission, test, troubleshoot, and maintain telecommunications network equipment.
• Perform OTDR, Ethernet, BER, and SONET acceptance testing.
• Install, clean, label, and test fiber optic patch cords.
• Turn up and troubleshoot DWDM, SONET, TDM, IP, and Ethernet equipment.
• Complete preventative and corrective maintenance on telecommunications network infrastructure.
• Support emergency network restoration efforts and resolve customer service outages.
• Perform equipment installations, decommissioning, and preliminary site surveys.
• Maintain critical infrastructure including DC power systems, telecommunications facilities, and fiber infrastructure.
• Support metro and long-haul fiber networks as assigned.
• Complete site surveys, audit reports, maintenance records, and testing documentation.
• Participate in project meetings, conference calls, and rotating on-call after-hours support.
• Travel throughout the assigned service area with occasional overnight travel.
• Adhere to all safety standards and quality procedures while supporting mission-critical environments
