Job Description – Field Service Technician (South Bend, IN)

As a Field Service Technician your primary mission will be to travel extensively throughout the U.S. and the World using your installation and troubleshooting skills with state-of-the-art joining and welding equipment. Your superior skills with the diagnosis and repair of electronics systems are absolutely central to the job, but your ability to build relationships with a wide range of customers in the field runs a close second.

Available Shift:

  • 1st Shift, Monday - Friday

Starting Pay Range:

  • $25/hr. - $32/hr.+
    • Expect ample opportunities for overtime
    • This position is bonus eligible

Responsibilities:

  • Travel extensively (75% travel, half of that time is international travel) throughout the United States and foreign countries to install and repair machines
  • Dismantle defective machines and install new or repaired parts, following specifications and blueprints, using precision measuring instruments and hand tools.
  • Work closely with customers to diagnose and repair machines.
  • Install and repair electrical apparatus, such as wiring and electrical/electronic components of machines.
  • Install machinery and equipment according to blueprints and other specifications.
  • Lay out, assemble, install, and maintain hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and repair/replace gauges, valves, pressure regulators and related components.
  • Install, program or repair automated machinery and equipment, such as flash turn off, programmable controllers, conveyors, robots, etc.
  • Apply troubleshooting expertise utilizing visual inspection, listening for unusual sounds to determine machine malfunctions as well as discussing machine operation and variation with customer personnel.
  • Provide instruction to customer personnel to operate MTI machines and equipment in a safe and effective manner.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation for expense reports, working hours, service reports and machine acceptance documents.

  • Perform other assignments, as requested by supervisor or manager 13.
  • Advise and recommend future technical and/or operational direction and process improvements as related to this function.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma with extensive technical experience/training/certifications.
  • Proven success in maintaining large machines/equipment.
