Description
We're looking for a self-motivated, hands-on professional who enjoys problem-solving and working with electrical power systems. You should be comfortable working both independently and as part of a team, and able to communicate clearly in the field and on reports.
What You'll Do
Perform ground grid testing and medium-voltage cable testing
Test, service, and troubleshoot transformers, relays, breakers, switches, and other electrical equipment at utility substations and industrial sites
Troubleshoot control circuits, communication systems, and protection systems
Perform breaker and relay retrofits
Read and understand electrical prints, control schematics, and protection schemes
Apply testing procedures using various types of relay and electrical test equipment
Test low- and medium-voltage breakers (Megger, Ductor, Hi-Pot, Hi-Current, timing tests)
Perform transformer testing including power factor, TTR, insulation resistance, and winding resistance
Complete mechanical work on breakers, including wiring, painting, and parts replacement
Accurately read meters and plot curves
Complete test reports clearly and on time
Use a PC to support testing activities, reporting, and data collection
Maintain strong substation safety awareness and follow all site safety requirements
Take on other duties as needed to support the team
What We're Looking For
Associate degree in Electrical Power, Electrical Engineering, or 5+ years of relevant field experience
Experience as a Switchgear or High-Voltage Technician
Comfortable using high-voltage test equipment and knowledgeable with low- and medium-voltage testing
Solid computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
Ability to work a flexible schedule based on customer needs
Valid driver's license
Strong communication skills
Willingness to travel extensively (up to 5 days per week, overnight travel possible)
Availability for on-call duty approximately six times per year
