Position Summary
The Field Service Technician (FST) is responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation, maintenance, and repair of natural gas compression equipment within an assigned territory. This role supports USA Compression's field operations by ensuring equipment uptime, performing preventive and corrective maintenance, and providing high‑quality service to internal and external customers. The FST works independently in remote field environments and plays a critical role in maintaining operational continuity for midstream partners. Qualifications
Required
Solid professional communication/interface skills with customer field personnel, onsite vendors, and other employees. This role is often the USAC position with the most customer interaction. Excellent customer service and positive communication skills are critical to the success in the FST role.
High school diploma or GED.
Mechanical aptitude with experience in engines, rotating equipment, or heavy machinery.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and service bulletins.
Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Ability to work independently in outdoor, remote, and sometimes harsh environments.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.
Must provide own small hand tools.
Preferred
Prefer at least 2 years of experience in gas compression with preference to CAT, Ariel and/or Cummins certifications and experience. Depending on the equipment assigned, this role may maintain large or small horsepower units, gas lift or traditional compression units along with other related equipment associated with our business.
Technical certification or vocational training in diesel, natural gas engines, or industrial maintenance.
Experience in midstream oil & gas field operations.
