Title: Field Service Manager Type: FTE, Hourly (Overtime Eligible) Location: Minneapolis, MN – up to 50% regional travel Schedule: Monday-Friday day shift, occasional emergency response Eligibility: US Permanent Residency is required for this role
Job Summary
Ready to lead the team that keeps critical science safe? Our client has certified controlled environments for over 45 years — the cleanrooms, biosafety cabinets, and fume hoods that pharmaceutical, medical device, and research clients depend on. They’re 100% founder and employee owned, and looking for a Field Service Manager to lead the team of specialized field technicians across Minnesota and the region.
This is a hands-on leadership role. Your time splits between the office and client sites, balancing administrative oversight with direct field involvement. You'll need high adaptability and the readiness to step in on-site whenever compliance is on the line.
If you know controlled-environment testing inside and out, take pride in "zero-error" documentation, and want to build technicians into experts, we want to talk to you.
Qualifications and Requirements
Industry expertise: 5+ years in cleanroom certification or environmental monitoring.
Regulatory knowledge: Deep familiarity with ISO, CETA, and other bodies governing controlled-environment regulations.
Leadership: Proven experience managing a field-based team, including performance tracking and conflict resolution is highly preferred.
Detail orientation: A "zero-error" mindset toward documentation and data integrity.
Hands-on flexibility: Willingness to mobilize into the field when technicians are unavailable, so clients maintain uninterrupted compliance. Valid driver's license required.
Duties and Responsibilities
Lead the field team: Manage the daily deployment, attendance, and on-site conduct of field service technicians, ensuring they arrive prepared with calibrated equipment and a firm grasp of site-specific protocols.
Own quality & compliance: Review and approve certification reports for accuracy, and ensure all testing is performed strictly to ISO 14644, USP 797, USP 800, and other applicable standards.
Be the go-to for the tough calls: Act as primary technical lead for emergency service calls and critical rechecks — troubleshooting and resolving complex compliance issues or failed tests on-site.
Develop the team: Lead onboarding and training for new technicians and ongoing development for senior staff, turning junior techs into subject matter experts.
Audit the field: Conduct regular field audits to verify technicians follow SOPs and produce accurate, defensible test results.
Partner with clients: Serve as the technical lead during client meetings and audits, explaining results clearly and building trust.
Drive improvement: Champion top-down and bottom-up improvements across the company.
