We are offering a $5,000 sign‑on bonus for a Resident Technician located within, or willing to relocate within, 50 miles of Virginia, MN to support our operations in Northern Minnesota. This role focuses on performing basic service, maintenance, and repair work on mining equipment within Iron Ore mining operations, with occasional support for non‑mining customers in the surrounding area. The ideal candidate has solid mechanical aptitude, a willingness to learn, the ability to work independently, and a strong commitment to safety and quality.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
Provide maintenance, diagnostics, and repair support for equipment operating in Iron Ore mining environments
Deliver service support to both mining and non‑mining customers within the assigned territory
Perform troubleshooting and repairs on a wide range of mechanical systems with minimal supervision
Maintain accurate service documentation, work orders, and reporting in company systems
Ensure all work is completed in compliance with company safety policies and industry regulations
Communicate effectively with customers, team members, and leadership regarding equipment status and service needs
Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, uptime, and overall customer satisfaction
Required Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you must have:
A strong mechanical background with proven hands‑on experience
Proficiency with basic computer systems used for diagnostics, reporting, and work‑order management
The ability to work independently and manage time and responsibilities effectively without direct supervision
A valid driver's license and the ability to travel within the assigned service area
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with high‑horsepower engines
Background in mining equipment or heavy‑equipment service environments
Familiarity with diagnostic tools and advanced troubleshooting techniques
Work Environment & Expectations
Work is performed in both field and industrial settings, including active mining sites
Mandatory participation in an on‑call rotation to support 24/7 operations
Required overtime, including extended hours, evenings, and weekends, based on business and customer needs
Ability to respond to service calls outside standard working hours when necessary
Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules, workloads, and operational priorities
Strong commitment to maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and customer service
Education, Licenses, Certifications
Apprentice‑Trained Engine Technician (Preferred)
Vocational diploma from a relevant technical institution
Locally valid driving permit
