Position Details:
Position Type: Full Time / Contract
Job Location: Kingsport, TN (local candidates preferred - no per diem offered)
Schedule: Day Shift, 10-hour days, 5–6 days per week (approximately 50–60 hours/week)
Project Duration: Approximately October 2026 through May 2027

Compensation: $45–$65/hr, depending on experience & qualifications
 

Overview/Summary:
The Field Safety Coordinator will support an industrial construction project in Kingsport, TN, serving as an on-site HSE representative and working closely with project and construction leadership. This position is responsible for implementing and continuously improving site HSE programs, ensuring compliance with company policies, client requirements, and regulatory standards, and promoting a proactive safety culture.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide visible field safety leadership through regular site inspections, observations, and engagement with employees and contractors.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, environmental requirements, client policies, and established safety standards.
• Monitor contractor activities and ensure adherence to site safety policies, procedures, and safe work practices.
• Conduct safety audits, risk assessments, job hazard analyses (JHAs), and behavioral safety observations.
• Investigate incidents, near misses, and safety concerns; identify root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Facilitate safety orientations, toolbox talks, training programs, emergency drills, and safety meetings.
• Partner with project management and field supervision to integrate safety requirements into project planning and execution.
• Maintain accurate safety records, metrics, reports, and regulatory documentation.
• Support emergency preparedness and incident response activities.

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years of progressive safety experience in construction, industrial, manufacturing, energy, or similar field-based environments.
• Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations, industry best practices, and risk-management principles.
• Experience conducting incident investigations, safety audits, and compliance assessments.
• Ability to effectively engage contractors, craft personnel, supervisors, and site leadership.
• Strong communication, leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and safety management systems.
• Working knowledge of confined-space and high-angle rescue activities.

Preferred Qualifications:

• CSP, ASP, CHST, SMS, or equivalent professional safety certification.
• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Construction Management, or a related field; degree preferred but not required.
• Experience supporting large construction/project sites and managing safety performance across multiple contractor organizations.
• Demonstrated ability to build strong working relationships and influence safe behaviors in a dynamic field environment.
