This opportunity offers hands-on experience supporting large-scale battery energy storage systems in a growing renewable-energy environment. Technicians will work across electrical, controls, battery, inverter, SCADA, HVAC, and chiller systems while building a long-term field-service career. The contract-to-hire structure gives candidates a defined path toward permanent employment and advancement.
Job Description
The Field Resource Technician Level 2 performs onsite maintenance, troubleshooting, inspection, testing, and repair activities for utility-scale battery energy storage systems. The technician supports preventive maintenance across batteries, inverters, SCADA communications, controls, HVAC and chiller equipment, and related electrical assets. This person will follow established safety and lockout/tagout procedures, interpret drawings and schematics, assist with work orders and inventory records, collect accurate service data, coordinate with supervisors and engineers, and help ensure work is completed safely, accurately, and on schedule.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Approximately 1-3 years of relevant experience; the manager will consider the overall strength of the candidate.
- Experience with electrical systems, HVAC systems, renewable energy, power generation, operations, maintenance, or a related technical environment.
- Ability to perform maintenance and troubleshoot batteries, inverters, SCADA, controls, HVAC/chiller systems, and related electrical equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret single-line drawings, schematics, and technical procedures.
- Ability to use electrical testing equipment, including multimeters and meggers.
- Current OSHA 10, NFPA 70E, and CPR certifications, or the ability to obtain them immediately.
- Current driver's license and a good driving record, with the ability to operate company vehicles.
- Ability to work fully onsite, adapt to hot and cold environments, work overtime or weekends when required, climb ladders or steps, and lift at least 50 pounds.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
Bonus/Soft Skills
- Previous wind-energy experience; the hiring manager noted that wind technicians often transition well into this work.
- Exposure to 1500 VDC, 630 VAC, substations, medium- or high-voltage operations, or utility-scale battery energy storage systems.
- Strong computer skills, attention to detail, accurate documentation, urgency, adaptability, and clear communication.
