Job Title: Field Outreach Specialist

Location: 4000 Hadley Rd, South Plainfield, NJ, 07080

Overview:

Location Preference:

Hiring Manager prefers local candidates from Middlesex, Mercer, or Union counties, so that they can reach both ends of the state within approximately one hour.

Vehicle Requirement:

Contractor will need to use their own vehicle; mileage and tolls can be expensed.

License Requirement:

  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • MVR (Motor Vehicle Record) required.
  • Qualifications

  • BS/BA degree.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience in business or communications.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills; strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and general PC skills.
  • General knowledge of campaign canvassing and door-to-door delivery.
  • Must foster an inclusive work environment and respect all aspects of diversity.
  • Must demonstrate and value differences in others' strengths, perspectives, and approaches.
  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking, interpersonal, presentation, and leadership skills.
  • Minimum 2 years of demonstrated analytical ability, quantitative, and presentation skills.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid U.S. driver's license and maintain a safe driving record (gas reimbursement will be provided).
  • Responsibilities
    This position supports construction project public affairs and project outreach through a combination of internal and external resources to meet program goals:

  • Coordinate all aspects of field outreach to ensure timely and effective notification of construction impacts to customers and businesses, including gathering multiple schedules and prioritizing and setting a work schedule for the week ahead.
  • Maintain the day-to-day safety and communication logistics of field outreach work, keeping a pulse on variable field conditions, and amending the schedule as necessary.
  • Track all field notification data, including street span for notifications made, number of businesses and homes contacted, critical facilities identified along the route, and any major issues that need the attention of a Public Affairs Specialist (PAS).
  • Maintain inventory control of outreach materials, including doorknob hangers, letters, etc., and track monthly expenditures.
  • Develop, prepare, and analyze operational reports (e.g., customer interaction tracker).
  • Develop and generate ad-hoc and operational reports from existing systems.
  • Support construction website updates.
  • General knowledge of campaign canvassing and door-to-door delivery.


  • Receive outreach request emails containing assignment details (letter, door hanger type, route map, and quantities).
  • Print, fold, assemble, and insert outreach letters into door hangers.
  • Walk 7-10 miles per day in all seasons while performing deliveries.
  • Deliver 600-700 door hangers per day to residential and business customers across multiple municipalities (typically 4-6 per day).
  • Place door hangers on residential doors; for businesses, enter the premises and deliver materials directly to the owner or manager.
