Job Title: Field Operations SupervisorJob Description

The Field Operations Supervisor leads industrial machine repair projects from the field and ensures that crews have the manpower, equipment, and materials needed to complete jobs safely, efficiently, and according to plan. This role coordinates daily project activities, tracks progress, and communicates schedule updates to project managers and estimators. The supervisor oversees safety, quality, and productivity on jobsites while managing and mentoring field personnel and serving as the primary onsite point of contact for customers, subcontractors, and internal project teams. This position is ideal for a hands-on industrial maintenance professional seeking to transition into project management within a fast-paced industrial environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead industrial machine repair projects from the field, ensuring all work aligns with project plans, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Coordinate daily project activities, including scheduling and organizing manpower, materials, equipment, and tools required for job completion.
  • Track project progress, monitor milestones, and provide timely schedule updates to project managers and estimators.
  • Oversee jobsite safety by enforcing safety policies, conducting safety checks, and promoting a strong safety culture among field crews.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop technicians and tradespeople, helping them improve their technical skills, productivity, and overall performance.
  • Manage onsite productivity by assigning tasks, monitoring work output, and resolving issues that may impact timelines or quality.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact onsite for customers, subcontractors, and internal project teams, ensuring clear and professional communication.
  • Read and interpret drawings, plans, and specifications to guide field activities and ensure work is completed correctly.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with project managers and estimators to align field execution with project budgets, schedules, and scope.
  • Support training and mentorship initiatives that help field personnel grow into advanced technical or leadership roles.
  • Assist in identifying and addressing potential project risks, constraints, or conflicts in the field and escalate issues as needed.
  • Promote continuous improvement in field operations by sharing feedback, lessons learned, and best practices with the broader operations team.

Essential Skills

  • Multiple years of hands-on machine repair experience in industrial environments.
  • Proven experience leading, mentoring, and supervising technicians or tradespeople.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate manpower, materials, equipment, and jobsite activities.
  • Ability to read and understand drawings, plans, and specifications.
  • Experience managing jobsite safety and promoting a safe working environment.
  • Strong communication skills with customers, project managers, subcontractors, and field teams.
  • Industrial machinery and industrial maintenance experience.
  • Site management and field operations management skills.
  • OSHA 30 certification.
  • Ability to manage multiple field priorities in a fast-paced industrial setting.
  • Leadership abilities suited to overseeing industrial machine repair projects.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Prior Project Manager or Maintenance Manager experience.
  • Millwright background with machine repair expertise.
  • Lead Foreman or Senior Maintenance Technician experience.
  • Experience maintaining equipment within automotive stamping facilities.
  • Familiarity with Tier 1 manufacturing environments, including companies such as Ford, GM, Stellantis, Dana, Nexteer, or similar.
  • Interest in transitioning from a hands-on maintenance role into project management.
  • Willingness to participate in training and mentorship on estimating and bidding projects.
  • Desire for long-term career growth within operations and project management.

Work Environment

This is a permanent, office-based position located in Walker, MI, with approximately 75% of the time spent onsite at customer locations. The role involves a mix of in-town and out-of-town projects, providing exposure to large industrial and manufacturing customers throughout Michigan. The work environment is collaborative, with experienced operations and estimating professionals who support training, mentorship, and career development. A company vehicle and company credit card are provided to support travel and field responsibilities. The position operates within a structured industrial setting focused on safety, quality, and efficient project delivery.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $125000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
