FIELD METROLOGIST BIOMEDICAL TEST EQUIPMENT

COMPENSATION & SCHEDULE
Starting salary: $67,000 plus per diem
Approximately 50% overnight travel to customer locations, with occasional travel for training, audits, and company meetings
Company vehicle and hotel expenses provided
ROLE IMPACT
The Field Metrologist performs calibration, verification, troubleshooting, repair, and documentation of biomedical test and measurement equipment used in healthcare, laboratory, and medical device environments. Success in this role requires accurate onsite metrology services, reliable equipment performance, complete documentation, and adherence to applicable quality standards and established procedures.
KEY DUTIES
Perform calibration, validation, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repair of biomedical test equipment, including electrical safety analyzers, patient simulators, defibrillator analyzers, infusion pump analyzers, ventilator testers, physiological signal simulators, and temperature, pressure, and flow measurement devices.
Conduct onsite and laboratory-based metrology services in accordance with ISO 9001, ISO/IEC 17025, manufacturer specifications, and established procedures.
Generate accurate calibration certificates, service reports, and quality documentation while maintaining calibration standards and measurement traceability.
Provide technical support and equipment-use guidance to customers and maintain inventory of tools, standards, and replacement parts.
Support quality audits, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement activities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electronics Technology, Biomedical Engineering Technology, Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field.
5+ years of experience in calibration, metrology, biomedical equipment service, or a related field, including knowledge of calibration principles, uncertainty analysis, and measurement traceability.
Valid driver's license, ability to travel up to 50% of the time, strong troubleshooting skills, and ability to interpret technical manuals, schematics, and calibration procedures.
EQUIPMENT & WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work with electrical and electronic measurement systems, calibration software, asset management systems, and precision instruments.
Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 65 pounds.
Ability to work in hospitals, laboratories, manufacturing facilities, and field environments.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and work with precision instruments for extended periods.
Use Microsoft Office Suite for technical documentation, reporting, and related administrative tasks.
PREFERRED SKILLS
Experience working in ISO 9001 and ISO/IEC 17025 accredited laboratories.
Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET) or Calibration Technician (CCT) certification.
Experience with Fluke Biomedical, Rigel, BC Group, Pronk, Datrend Systems, or similar biomedical test equipment.
