Title: Field Service / Machine Build Leader
Location: Columbus, OH
Compensation: $110,000 - $160,000

Must have Skill Set:

  • Must have proven experience building and leading a field service, machine build, installation, or deployment team in automation manufacturing, robotics or tier 1 automotive manufacturing.
  • Must have experience hiring, developing, and managing field technicians, skilled trades, or machine-build personnel.
  • Must have proven experience leading complex industrial equipment builds, installations, or deployments from start to finish.
  • Must have strong project execution, scheduling, customer-facing, and problem-solving skills.
  • Need to have strong mechanical and electrical aptitude and the ability to read drawings and schematics.
  • Must have a safety-first mindset and experience leading work in industrial or manufacturing environments.
  • Proven experience developing processes, standard work, and continuous improvement programs.
  • Must be willing and able to travel 60–70%, including extended customer-site assignments.

 

Overview:

We are looking for a proven field service or machine build leader who has built and led teams before. This person will own field execution, from planning through installation and customer handoff.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on team builder who can hire and develop talent, establish processes, manage trades and subcontractors, and drive safety, quality, and schedule. Proven experience building a field service or machine build team is a must.


Job Duties: 

  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing field service / machine build team.
  • Hire, train, coach, and develop field technicians and skilled trades.
  • Lead end-to-end equipment builds, installations, and deployments.
  • Plan staffing, materials, tooling, site readiness, and project schedules.
  • Coordinate subcontractors and multiple trades.
  • Own safety, quality, schedule, and execution in the field.
  • Serve as the primary field-facing customer leader.
  • Establish standard work, checklists, and repeatable field processes.
  • Drive continuous improvement and root-cause problem solving.
  • Identify risks early and resolve field issues quickly.
  • Partner with engineering and operations to improve equipment, documentation, and future deployments.
  • Travel 60–70%, including overnight and multi-week customer-site assignments.

 

Qualifications: 

  • Must have 5+ years of experience in field service, machine build, industrial installation, automation, or related technical environments.
  • Must have proven experience building and leading a field service, machine build, installation, or deployment team.
  • Must have experience hiring and developing technical personnel.
  • Must have proven experience managing complex projects and multiple trades.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings and electrical schematics.
  • Strong customer communication and project management skills.
  • Experience with industrial safety, LOTO, JHAs, and active manufacturing environments.
  • Proven experience with standard work, process improvement, or root-cause problem solving.
  • Robotics, automation, capital equipment, or machinery experience preferred.
  • Must be willing and able to travel 60–70%.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel throughout North America.
