    Description

    We are seeking a reliable, hands-on Field Infrastructure Technician to support onsite installations and service for small-to-mid-sized businesses across Eastern North Carolina and occasional out-of-state projects.

    This role is travel-focused and physically hands-on. If you prefer primarily desk-based or remote IT work, this position will not be a good fit.

    Requirements

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Travel to client sites for equipment installations and service
    • Install and mount network switches, wireless access points, and related hardware
    • Pull and terminate network cable; test and verify cable runs
    • Assist with rack organization and structured cabling projects
    • Deploy workstations (physical setup, power, network connection, verification)
    • Replace UPS batteries and test power systems
    • Perform basic hardware troubleshooting onsite
    • Clearly communicate with clients while onsite
    • Escalate complex issues to senior technicians when needed

    What This Role Is NOT

    • A remote helpdesk role
    • A cybersecurity analyst role
    • A senior systems administrator position
    • Primarily desk-based IT support

    This is a field-driven, travel-based role focused on infrastructure deployment and configuration.

    Technical Experience That Helps

    • Experience with low-voltage cabling or structured wiring
    • Familiarity with network equipment installation
    • Basic Windows workstation setup and troubleshooting
    • ISP/telecom (VoIP NOT Analog) or field service experience
    • Comfort working with tools and ladders

    You do NOT need to be a systems engineer to succeed here.

    Qualifications

    • Valid North Carolina driver’s license and reliable transportation (out of state candidates must acquire in state license before beginning work)
    • Comfortable working at heights and lifting up to 50 lbs
    • Strong communication skills
    • Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently once trained
    • Willingness to travel as required
