Job Summary
The Field Experience and Residency Coordinator serves in the capacity of liaison between partner school districts and ULM's Teach Preparation Program (TPP) and teaches courses in the School of Education. The position will require regular and frequent visits to secure placements, oversee, and support the relationships among multiple entities. The position assumes the expertise to work with personnel at the state, district, school, and TPP levels.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Teach ULM School of Ed courses including those related to residency and internships and conduct professional development for mentors, supervisors, residents, interns, and faculty relative to field experience
- Secure, oversee, and support the tenets of the MOU between partner school districts and the Teacher Preparation Program (TPP)
- Participate in the needs assessment, planning, and conducting of professional development provided to undergraduate residents and alternative certification interns, both practitioner (PBC) and MAT interns
- Facilitate the shared governance initiative by developing collaborative partnerships with key personnel in the systems in which ULM places block and residency candidates
- Facilitate data collected to ensure data informed decisions with regard to the structure, scope and sequence of TPP courses and embedded assessments
- Serve as a liaison among site supervisors, mentors, and ULM faculty in identifying appropriate placements for residencies
- Serve as a liaison between residents or interns and their supervisors/mentors in problem solving and communication facilitation
- Conduct sharing sessions with mentors and supervisors
- Assist in planning/facilitating PK-16 Advisory Council meetings
- Mentor teachers to participate in the program's initial teacher preparation initiative and support fidelity of implementation
- Communicate and guide TPP responsibilities to school districts for recruiting prospective teachers.
- File appropriate paperwork with the state for resident and practitioner licensure for undergraduate residents and assist with alternative certification interns
- Notify students of their Teacher Education status
- Evaluate students' eligibility for residency
- Review and update the Residency Handbook to provide comprehensive up-to-date information to students, mentors, and supervisors regarding residency
- Teach no more than 2 courses in the Teacher Preparation Program
Minimum Qualifications
Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction; K-12 teaching experience; Commitment to collaboration with public schools and education agencies;
Ability to work in a team environment
