Position Description:

We are seeking a dependable and mechanically adept Field Environmental Technician to support Operations and Maintenance (O&M) activities at groundwater treatment facilities in Syracuse, New York. This onsite role offers an excellent opportunity for motivated individuals interested in water treatment, electrical systems, and mechanical repairs. The Technician will work closely with plant electricians, assisting with routine electrical tasks, equipment checks, system monitoring, and ensuring safe work practices across the site.

Candidates should have hands-on experience with water treatment equipment, strong electrical awareness, and the ability to perform detailed mechanical repairs and troubleshooting on pumps, motors, plumbing, and treatment components. While technical skills are preferred, a strong work ethic and transferable skills are highly valued, and training will be provided for motivated individuals. Effective communication, meticulous data collection, and collaboration with diverse team members are essential. A High School diploma or equivalent, along with a valid driver's license, is required.

Key responsibilities include supporting electrical maintenance activities, operating and maintaining water treatment systems, executing mechanical repairs, troubleshooting electrical and mechanical issues, conducting site inspections, and supporting additional site tasks as needed. Familiarity with PLC and SCADA systems is a plus but not mandatory.

Optional training in HAZWOPER and Confined Space Entry can be accommodated.

• Support electrical maintenance and troubleshooting alongside electricians
• Assist with routine operations and maintenance of water treatment equipment
• Perform mechanical repairs, pump rebuilds, and system cleaning
• Identify operational issues and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems
• Conduct site inspections, verify system performance, and document findings
• Communicate repair needs and system deficiencies effectively
• Learn or utilize PLC and SCADA interfaces for system monitoring
• Contribute to general site tasks including equipment operation, building and grounds maintenance, and supporting sampling crews
