Field Service Engineer
Remote (U.S.-based) | High Travel | Full-Time

If you’re the type of engineer who would rather be in the field than behind a desk—and you’re comfortable working at heights—this is a unique opportunity to work on some of the largest, most complex equipment in the world.

We’re hiring a Field Service Engineer to support our Warranty Department, focused on the performance, maintenance, and troubleshooting of ship-to-shore crane systems. This role offers a mix of warranty support and commissioning work, with the chance to travel globally and work hands-on with cutting-edge industrial systems.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll play a critical role in ensuring equipment performance and reliability across major port operations. Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of ship-to-shore cranes
  • Commissioning AC/DC drive systems, medium voltage VFDs, and PLC-based controls
  • Performing system tuning, diagnostics, and performance optimization
  • Troubleshooting complex electrical and control system issues in the field
  • Supporting system testing, client acceptance, and warranty resolution
  • Training customers on system operation and maintenance best practices
  • Providing detailed field reports and collaborating with engineering teams

Note: This role involves working at heights—including at the top of cranes (up to ~175 ft).

Travel

  • 75%+ travel (domestic and international)
  • Travel may be scheduled with limited notice

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience with large AC/DC motors, medium voltage VFDs, and PLC programming
  • Field service or commissioning experience in industrial environments
  • Background can vary (metals, ports, oil & gas, renewables, etc.)
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in automation and controls
  • Ability and willingness to work at heights

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (EE, ME, Mechatronics, or similar) OR equivalent hands-on experience

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary: ~$100K–$110K
  • “Uplift” pay structure bringing total W2 to ~$125K+
  • Additional pay:
    • $17.50/hr for hours worked beyond 8/day
    • $35/hr on Saturdays (higher rates for Sundays & holidays)
  • 5 weeks PTO starting day one
  • 11 paid holidays/sick days
  • 401(k) with company match

Why This Opportunity?

  • Work for a destination employer with ~4% turnover
  • Exposure to large-scale, high-impact industrial systems
  • Opportunities to travel globally and expand your technical skillset
  • Strong internal support and long-term career growth
