Position Overview
The Field Engineer II serves as a lead engineering resource for project execution, working closely with the Project Manager and field teams to support safe, efficient, and high-quality project delivery. This role provides leadership to field and office engineering personnel and is responsible for supporting contract administration, project planning and scheduling, project reporting, field operations, and technical coordination.
The Field Engineer II is expected to be a job-site leader in health and safety while ensuring quality workmanship, accurate reporting, and professional and ethical execution of engineering responsibilities. The position also provides technical and administrative support related to contractual, legal, scheduling, and other project matters.

Responsibilities
Field Engineering
  • Interpret drawings and specifications for field crews and craft supervision.
  • Perform quantity calculations by taking measurements and determining percentages of completed or installed materials and work.
  • Assist with the preparation of work plans and work packages.
  • Support field surveying and work layout, including elevations, control points, and compilation of as-built data.
  • Compile, process, and verify daily labor timesheets.
  • Assist with the preparation of Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs).
  • Participate in jobsite safety reviews, toolbox meetings, safety meetings, and safety training.
  • Order and coordinate material deliveries.
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate work groups on the jobsite.
  • Supervise and provide technical support for field operations.
  • Provide field support and supervise subcontractor operations.
Office Engineering
  • Perform material takeoffs from drawings, specifications, and other contract documents.
  • Perform basic engineering calculations and technical drafting to support field operations.
  • Gather and prepare project data for submittals and transmittals to customers, vendors, subcontractors, governmental agencies, and internal stakeholders.
  • Assist with preparation of purchase orders and subcontracts, including minor solicitations and purchasing activities as assigned.
  • Assist with project schedule maintenance and updates.
  • Maintain project records and correspondence, including daily reports, photographs, Requests for Information (RFIs), and memorandums.
  • Assist with preparing change orders and as-built documentation for Project Manager review.
  • Support project documentation and communication throughout the project lifecycle.
Estimating
  • Review and analyze historical project data, including production rates and costs, to support bid preparation.
  • Review plans and specifications for assigned projects and identify potential risk areas for review by the Senior Estimator.
  • Perform material and quantity takeoffs in accordance with bid documents.
  • Assist with estimating activities and provide accurate quantity and project information to support competitive bids.
