JOB TITLE: Field Engineer (50 Hours/week)

DURATION: 3-6+ Month Contract With Extensions
RATE RANGE: Market Rate

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Field Engineer provides on-site technical execution support for installation, commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting. The role bridges engineering design intent and field reality, ensuring work is performed safely, to specification, and with complete documentation for turnover to operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Completed test records, check sheets, and signed turnover packages.
  • Redlined drawings and as-built markups.
  • Daily field reports and issue/risk logs.Daily field reports and issue/risk logs.
  • Punch-list closure evidence and lessons-learned inputs.
  • Execute field installation, commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting activities per approved drawings, procedures, and safety plans.
  • Perform inspections, loop checks, functional tests, and punch-list resolution; document results in buyer systems.
  • Interpret P&IDs, electrical one-lines, isometrics, and vendor manuals; redline as-builts and return markups to engineering.
  • Coordinate with construction, QA/QC, operations, and OEM technicians to resolve technical issues at the workface.
  • Support permit-to-work, LOTO verification support (as authorized), and adherence to site EHS requirements.
  • Maintain accurate daily reports, time charging, material usage notes, and turnover documentation.
  • Escalate risks, holds, and design clashes promptly with recommended mitigations.
  • Mentor junior field staff when leveled L4-L5; provide technical input to method statements and ITPs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: Associate or Bachelor degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or equivalent field experience.
  • Experience aligned to proposed Job Leveling Matrix level (see Matrix tab).
  • Demonstrated ability to read engineering drawings and execute field technical work safely.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with CMMS/work management tools preferred.
  • Valid authorization to work; ability to pass background check and site access requirements.
  • Willingness to work at industrial/construction sites including outdoor conditions, elevated work as trained, and shift work if required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • OSHA 10/30, NFPA 70E, confined space, or industry-equivalent safety credentials.
  • Commissioning experience in energy, manufacturing, infrastructure, or data center environments.
  • Experience with digital turnover / BIM field tools/collaboration platforms.
