    Field Accountant – Facility Project

    Location: Salt Lake City, Utah

    Start: ASAP, duration 18+ months

    Reports To: Site Construction Manager


    Position Summary

    Seeking an experienced Field Accountant to support financial and administrative operations for an active facility construction project. This role works on-site to ensure accurate cost tracking, invoice processing, timekeeping compliance, and financial reporting throughout the project lifecycle. The ideal candidate has a strong background in construction or industrial project accounting and is comfortable working in a fast-paced field environment.


    Key Responsibilities

    • Process and code field invoices, subcontractor billings, and purchase orders in accordance with project cost codes
    • Track daily/weekly labor hours, per diem, and equipment usage for field personnel and subcontractors
    • Reconcile field expenditures against project budgets and flag variances to Project Controls
    • Support weekly and monthly cost reporting, forecasting, and job cost accruals
    • Maintain accurate records for change orders, T&M tickets, and field purchase requisitions
    • Coordinate with corporate accounting/AP teams to ensure timely payment processing
    • Assist with certified payroll reporting and compliance documentation as required
    • Support internal and client audits by maintaining organized financial documentation
    • Liaise with site superintendents, project managers, and subcontractors on cost-related questions
    • Ensure compliance with client and company financial policies, procedures, and controls


    Qualifications

    • 2+ years of accounting experience, preferably in construction, pipeline, or industrial/EPC project environments
    • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience)
    • Proficiency in Excel; experience with job cost/ERP systems (e.g., Viewpoint, JD Edwards, SAP, or similar) preferred
    • Familiarity with union/certified payroll requirements a plus
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple cost codes/work orders simultaneously
    • Comfortable working on an active construction/facility site
    • Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with field and corporate teams


    Working Conditions

    • On-site presence required at the project facility
    • May require occasional travel between site office and job locations
    • Standard construction site PPE and safety compliance required
