Field Accountant – Facility Project
Location: Salt Lake City, Utah

Reports To: Site Construction Manager
Position Summary
Seeking an experienced Field Accountant to support financial and administrative operations for an active facility construction project. This role works on-site to ensure accurate cost tracking, invoice processing, timekeeping compliance, and financial reporting throughout the project lifecycle. The ideal candidate has a strong background in construction or industrial project accounting and is comfortable working in a fast-paced field environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Process and code field invoices, subcontractor billings, and purchase orders in accordance with project cost codes
- Track daily/weekly labor hours, per diem, and equipment usage for field personnel and subcontractors
- Reconcile field expenditures against project budgets and flag variances to Project Controls
- Support weekly and monthly cost reporting, forecasting, and job cost accruals
- Maintain accurate records for change orders, T&M tickets, and field purchase requisitions
- Coordinate with corporate accounting/AP teams to ensure timely payment processing
- Assist with certified payroll reporting and compliance documentation as required
- Support internal and client audits by maintaining organized financial documentation
- Liaise with site superintendents, project managers, and subcontractors on cost-related questions
- Ensure compliance with client and company financial policies, procedures, and controls
Qualifications
- 2+ years of accounting experience, preferably in construction, pipeline, or industrial/EPC project environments
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Proficiency in Excel; experience with job cost/ERP systems (e.g., Viewpoint, JD Edwards, SAP, or similar) preferred
- Familiarity with union/certified payroll requirements a plus
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple cost codes/work orders simultaneously
- Comfortable working on an active construction/facility site
- Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with field and corporate teams
Working Conditions
- On-site presence required at the project facility
- May require occasional travel between site office and job locations
- Standard construction site PPE and safety compliance required
