    Job Description 

    Avoca Risk is the “engine” company that supports several sister companies including Avondale Insurance Associates (AIA). Avoca Risk itself will shortly be launching its own products so will become the engine of the group.

    Due to the Avoca Group’s consistent annual growth, we are seeking a Fiduciary Accountant to work closely with our existing Finance Team from our Manchester, NH office.

    The ideal candidate is ambitious, detailed oriented, and career-minded with strong analytical and reconciliation abilities. Reporting to and working closely with the Senior Fiduciary Accountant, you will develop the knowledge and skill set to report the group’s business results to various stakeholders both internal and external.     Established in 2006, AIA is an industry leader in the Excess and Surplus Lines arena and is an Underwriting Management Company focused on small to mid-sized accounts across all property and general liability classes.  AIA is owned by Unison Risk Advisors  (URA), a market leading retail broker headquartered in Cleveland and working in partnership with URA. Avoca Risk continues to operationally support the AIA business along with other specialty business in the wider Avoca group stable. The Avoca Group currently supports $200m in premium annually under contract with US and International markets through three underwriting subsidiaries, AIA, ATS Underwriting (ATSU), and the newly launched Orbital Risk Capital (ORC).  Avoca has been growing each year and prides itself on outperforming the competition and empowering its staff to be entrepreneurial and creative.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Identify incoming deposits and apply/allocate to applicable invoices.
    • Reconcile bank account balances to accounting system and properly identify and track reconciling items.
    • Generate and confirm figures on a variety of spreadsheet based and system based reports.
    • Communicate and resolve payment discrepancies and overdue invoices with internal and external parties.
    • Assist with internal and external audits.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelors degree in accounting or 5-7 years of insurance accounting experience.
    • Strong analytical, problem solving, self-direction, and decision-making skills with general understanding of accounting concepts and procedures.
    • Understanding of bordereaux and timely, contractual reporting.
    • Ability to accurately apply cash receipts and initiate disbursements per contracts.
    • Proficient in Excel, and other data analysis software.
    • Ability to learn proprietary UW software.
    • Understanding of accounting software applications and ideally have a working knowledge of Applied EPIC, though this is not a requirement for the role.
    • Ability to reconcile revenue accounts.
