Fiber Technician - Full Time

Location: Indianapolis, IN
Employment Type: Full Time- Direct Hire
Pay: 48-68K Depending on Experience

About the Role

We are looking for a skilled Fiber Technician to support installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of fiber-optic infrastructure. This person plays a key role in ensuring high-performance network connectivity for residential and commercial customers. If you know fiber like a barista knows espresso, keep reading.

Responsibilities

  • Install, test, and maintain fiber-optic cable and related equipment (FTTH, FTTB, FTTP)

  • Perform fiber splicing, termination, and connector installation

  • Conduct OTDR and power meter testing to validate signal performance

  • Interpret network diagrams, blueprints, splice plans, and technical documentation

  • Troubleshoot connectivity issues and execute timely repairs

  • Safely operate bucket trucks and underground equipment when required

  • Maintain accurate documentation of work performed and materials used

  • Ensure compliance with company, industry, and safety standards

  • Communicate clearly with customers and internal teams regarding service status

Required Experience & Skills

  • 1+ years experience in fiber installation, splicing, or network cabling
    (bonus points if you have both aerial and underground experience)

  • Proficient in OTDR, light source, and power meter testing

  • Strong mechanical and technical troubleshooting ability

  • Familiarity with fiber color codes, hand tools, and safety practices

  • Ability to work outdoors in varied conditions

  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record

Preferred Qualifications

  • CFOT or similar fiber certification

  • Experience with bucket trucks, ladders, and underground fiber systems

  • Knowledge of OSP/ISP design and construction
