Job Summary:

As the Fiber Splicing Technician I, II, III, you will ultimately be responsible for fiber splicing, testing, and maintaining telecommunications infrastructure. You will install, troubleshoot, and repair aerial and underground fiber optic systems while ensuring work is completed safely and efficiently. As the Fiber Splicing Technician, your customers are broadband providers, telecommunications clients, and internal construction teams, and you will make meaningful contributions to the company’s success through quality workmanship, technical expertise, and timely project delivery.

Key Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to):

• Read and interpret work orders, engineering drawings, specifications, and cut sheets to determine work sequence
• Perform fiber optic splicing, repairs, and testing for aerial and underground communication systems
• Install passive and active devices, enclosures, and terminal panels
• Utilize OTDR, light meters, and testing equipment to verify signal quality and troubleshoot issues
• Pull fiber optic cable through conduit manually, mechanically, or through blowing methods
• Safely operate bucket trucks or climb utility poles to place and maintain cable systems
• Additional responsibilities within functional scope based on business needs

Required Qualifications:

Education, Licensing, and Certifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver’s license

Experience

• 3–5+ years of fiber optic splicing experience
• Experience in telecommunications construction, including aerial and underground fiber systems

Skills and Abilities

• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
• Proficiency using OTDR, light meters, and fiber testing equipment
• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience operating bucket trucks and aerial work platforms
• Experience with cable television or broadband communication systems

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift and carry up to 80 lbs.
• Stand, walk, bend, and climb for extended periods
• Work performed outdoors, in all weather conditions, at heights, and in confined spaces
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen
