Job Summary

As a Fiber Splicing Technician, you will ultimately be responsible for splicing, testing, troubleshooting, and repairing fiber optic infrastructure to support network deployment and maintenance. You will execute fiber construction and activation work while ensuring quality, safety, and accurate documentation. Your customers include telecommunications providers and internal construction teams, and you will contribute to company success through technical expertise, efficient field execution, and reliable network performance.

Key Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to):

• Perform fiber optic splicing, testing, troubleshooting, and repairs for aerial and underground networks.
• Read and interpret splice matrices, maps, prints, and redline documentation to complete assigned work.
• Build, seal, and maintain fiber cases, enclosures, tie points, and jumper cases.
• Conduct end-of-line testing to verify signal strength, continuity, and network performance.
• Perform cable preparation, cable management, and fiber routing to ensure proper organization and system reliability.
• Assist with pulling cable through duct packages, conduits, and underground or aerial pathways as needed.
• Additional responsibilities within functional scope based on business needs.

Required Qualifications

Education, Licensing, and Certifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
• OSHA 10 certification.

Experience

• 2+ years of fiber splicing experience in telecommunications construction or broadband infrastructure.
• Experience working with aerial and underground fiber optic systems.

Skills and Abilities

• Ability to read blueprints, splice matrices, and utility maps.
• Ability to distinguish fiber colors accurately for splicing and terminations.
• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
• Ability to safely work in confined spaces, at heights, and around heavy equipment.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work independently or in team environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with OTDR, light meters, and fiber testing equipment.
• Experience operating bucket trucks and aerial work platforms.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, kneel, and work in physically demanding positions for extended periods.
• Work performed outdoors in all weather conditions, confined spaces, and at heights as applicable.
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check, drug screen, and MVR.
