Fiber Network Engineer/Coordinator

We are seeking a Fiber Network Engineer / Coordinator to support the planning, design, testing, coordination, and operational oversight of a growing fiber optic network. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.

We are seeking a Fiber Network Engineer / Coordinator to support the planning, design, testing, coordination, and operational oversight of a growing fiber optic network. This position combines outside plant (OSP) fiber engineering with network reliability coordination and collaboration with network operations teams. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator who is detail-oriented and enjoys working across both field and network environments.
Key Responsibilities

• Perform and review OSP fiber route designs for aerial and underground networks.
• Support field walkouts, permitting activities, and engineering reviews.
• Coordinate with internal teams, contractors, vendors, and network operations personnel.
• Monitor network performance, reliability, and outage response activities.
• Assist in troubleshooting, commissioning, and network activations.
• Support fiber optic testing using OTDRs, power meters, and visual fault locators.
• Review splice plans, construction drawings, fiber schematics, and test results.
• Maintain project documentation, as-builts, certification reports, and fiber asset records.
• Update network diagrams, splice logs, rack layouts, and test documentation.
• Participate in an on-call rotation to support network events and outage response.
• Ensure compliance with industry best practices for cable management, labeling, grounding, and environmental protection.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Relevant industry experience and certifications may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• 3+ years of experience in OSP fiber design, engineering, or construction coordination.
• Strong understanding of fiber network infrastructure.
• Experience working with or coordinating alongside Network Operations Center (NOC) teams.
• Familiarity with networking fundamentals, including IP addressing, DHCP, VLANs, and Layer 1/2/3 devices.
• Ability to interpret fiber test results, OTDR traces, and related documentation.
• Experience with CAD, GIS, or fiber management platforms such as AutoCAD, ArcGIS, OSPInsight, Vetro, or similar tools.
