FIAR Consultant - Space Force

BizFirst is assisting our client with hiring FIAR (Financial Improvement and Audit Readiness) Consultants to support
U.S. Space Force financial management and audit readiness initiatives. Our
client is a boutique federal consulting firm providing specialized financial,
audit, and operational support to defense organizations focused on
strengthening internal controls, improving financial transparency, and
achieving auditability.
What You Will Do
As a FIAR Consultant, you will
support Space Force organizations in executing Financial Improvement and Audit
Readiness initiatives across multiple installations. You will work closely with
government stakeholders to assess internal controls, document financial
processes, remediate audit findings, and ensure compliance with DoD financial
management and audit standards. Your work will directly contribute to improving
audit outcomes and strengthening financial governance across Space Force
missions.
Responsibilities
- Support FIAR initiatives focused
on audit readiness, internal controls, and financial process improvement
- Document financial processes,
risks, and controls in accordance with FIAR and DoD guidance
- Assist with walkthroughs, control
testing, and validation of financial and business processes
- Support remediation of audit
findings, Notices of Findings and Recommendations (NFRs), and corrective
action plans
- Prepare and maintain audit
support documentation, including narratives, flowcharts, and test results
- Coordinate with functional
stakeholders across finance, logistics, contracting, and operations
- Support readiness for financial
statement audits and service provider audits
- Assist in preparing briefings,
status reports, and deliverables for government leadership
- Ensure compliance with DoD
financial regulations, internal control frameworks, and audit standards
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree from an
accredited institution (any field)
- Minimum of 5–10 years of
experience supporting FIAR, audit readiness, or federal financial
management initiatives
- Experience with DoD financial
management, audit processes, and internal control frameworks
- Familiarity with financial
systems and documentation supporting auditability (e.g., accounting,
budget execution, or asset management processes)
- Strong analytical, documentation,
and organizational skills
- Ability to work directly with
government stakeholders in a client-facing role
- Strong written and verbal
communication skills
- U.S. Citizenship required, Secret
clearance required
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting Air Force
or Space Force financial management or audit programs
- Familiarity with FIAR Guidance,
OMB Circular A-123, and DoD internal control requirements
- Experience supporting service
provider audits (e.g., DFAS, DLA)
- Prior experience working onsite
at DoD installations
