POSITION OBJECTIVE:
Provide technical oversight and operational expertise for fermentation, separation, and utilities systems. The Senior Fermentation Process Specialist serves as the plant's subject matter expert for fermentation operations and supports production teams by troubleshooting process issues,
improving operational practices, and ensuring stable and efficient plant performance.

TECHNICAL OVERSIGHT
- Provide technical guidance for fermentation, separation, and utilities operations.
- Serve as the primary subject matter expert for yeast fermentation processes.
- Support operators and supervisors in diagnosing and resolving process upsets.
- Monitor fermentation performance, yields, and process stability.
- Identify opportunities to improve process efficiency and reliability.
OPERATIONAL SUPPORT
- Assist production teams in maintaining stable fermentation performance.
- Provide hands-on troubleshooting support during process deviations.
- Help ensure consistent process execution across shifts.
- Work closely with operators to maintain best operating practices.
PROCESS IMPROVEMENT
- Recommend improvements to fermentation protocols and operating procedures.
- Participate in investigations related to contamination events or process losses.
- Assist engineering and technical teams in implementing process improvements.
- Support process trials, new procedures, and operational optimization efforts.
TRAINING & KNOWLEDGE TRANSFER
- Provide technical coaching and mentorship to plant operators.
- Support training of new operators on fermentation and separation processes.
- Share operational best practices across shifts to ensure consistency.
- Assist in developing and maintaining operating procedures.
COLLABORATION WITH ENGINEERING & MANAGEMENT
- Work closely with Process Engineers and the Technical Manager on process improvements.
- Provide operational input on equipment modifications and capital projects.
- Participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
SAFETY & COMPLIANCE
- Promote safe operating practices across fermentation and separation operations.
- Support plant safety programs and ensure compliance with operating procedures.

A COMBINATION OF THE LISTED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE IS
PREFERRED
- Extensive experience in fermentation operations, preferably within yeast or biochemical manufacturing.
- 10+ years of hands-on manufacturing experience in fermentation, separation, and utilities systems.
- Deep understanding of fermentation process control, contamination prevention, and plant
operations.
- Strong troubleshooting ability for complex manufacturing processes.
- Excellent communication and mentoring skills.
- Proven ability to support cross-functional teams including operations, engineering, and
maintenance.

WORKING CONDITIONS
- This role requires regular presence in the manufacturing plant and close interaction with operating
equipment and personnel.
- The employee may be required to climb platforms, access equipment areas, and work in
environments with noise, heat, humidity, and chemicals.
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required in designated areas.
