About this Role: 

The Citywide Strategy & Partnerships Fellow is responsible for the implementation of the curriculum, targeted support, individual student check-ins, and study halls for current dually enrolled high school students.

This role is work-study eligible.

You’ll help us to achieve: 
  • Educational programming and support for talented underserved students in the Philadelphia region to achieve academic success and college access opportunities.
  • An understanding of how our students are doing academically and socially at their schools
  • Intentional college exposure opportunities for high school students
You’ll be responsible for: 
  • Overseeing study halls for citywide strategy & partnerships students, including student communication and attendance tracking 
  • Providing small group and individual advisement 
  • Supporting around communication and intervention with students with absences and missing assignments
  • Facilitating college readiness workshops to prepare students to be successful in college 
  • Providing weekly updates on student progress and aligning study hall topics to students’ academic and behavioral needs 
  • Attending supplementary Large Group meetings and Trainings
  • Promoting staff programming initiatives, and recommending engaging supplemental workshops and learning activities for students
  • Provide administrative and programmatic support to accommodate the expansion of Heights and Temple University partnership initiatives and related activities.

About you: 
  • Current undergraduate or graduate student who is a first-generation college student or who understands the lived experiences of those who are first in their families to attend college 
  • Experience working with and understanding important issues facing students from low-income backgrounds
  • Interest in working on issues of educational access with students from Philadelphia
  • An understanding of working with students and aspects of positive student outcomes
  • Experience working with High School students
  • Minimum of 3.0 Grade Point Average in core subjects (English, Math and Science)
  • Able to work up to 10 hrs a week, including availability weekday evenings and weekends.
  • Applicants with personal experience in the first-generation, low-income BIPOC college student experience are highly encouraged to apply.
Heights employees: 
  • Must meet expectations to report in-person on a schedule determined by their direct manager and/or the Vice President of the team.  
  • Must meet PA State background check requirements [PA Criminal, PA Child Abuse and FBI Fingerprint Check] at hire and every five years thereafter. 
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States and complete an I-9 employment verification form.
  • Strong orientation to customer service, particularly with regard to students, partners and colleagues 
  • Proficiency in Google Suite, Microsoft Office and related applications, as well as use of general office equipment (phones, computers, copiers, etc) 
  • Fluency in the use of data and data systems. Maintains appropriate engagement with data entry, reporting and review. 
  • Must be able to work in a busy, often complex work environment that is generally climate controlled. 
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds unassisted on an occasional basis. 
  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time. 
  • Must be able to stand or walk for long periods of time.
  • Access to reliable transportation required
