    Position Overview

    The Department of Computer Science and Information Systems is seeking a reliable, organized, and proactive student worker to join our administrative and academic support team. In this role, you will assist faculty, staff, and department leadership with daily operations, campus errands, event coordination, and general office tasks, with potential opportunities to assist in introductory tutoring or grading. This is a great opportunity to gain professional experience in an academic environment while working flexibly around your class schedule.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Administrative Support: Assist with copying, scanning, filing, data entry, and organizing departmental documents and resources.
    • Campus Errands: Deliver official documents, mail, and packages across campus offices and departments in a timely manner.
    • Event Assistance: Help set up, staff, and tear down departmental events, student orientations, academic workshops, and special campus events.
    • Office Maintenance: Ensure that common areas, student computer labs, and conference rooms remain clean, orderly, and well-stocked with supplies.
    • Customer Service: Greet and direct students, faculty, and campus visitors, answering general inquiries or routing them to the appropriate staff member.
    • Special Projects: Assist with inventory management, equipment organization, and other ad-hoc tasks as assigned by department leadership.

    Qualifications & Skills

    • Must be a currently enrolled student at East Texas A&M University in good academic standing.
    • Must be eligible for Federal Work-Study (FWS) award for the academic term.
    • Preference will be given to students majoring in the Computer Science and Information Systems department.
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team with a professional demeanor.
    • Punctual, reliable, and capable of maintaining confidentiality regarding departmental and student matters.
    • Basic proficiency with office software (e.g., Microsoft Office 365, Google Workspace).

    Working Conditions & Expectations

    • Hours: Flexible schedule, typically ranging from 10 to 20 hours per week during regular business hours (Monday through Friday).
    • Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 25 pounds (for moving event supplies, boxes, or equipment) and walk across campus for deliveries.
