Job Description

This posting is to establish a pool of qualified applicants. The department may not be actively recruiting. Applications submitted will remain active for up to one (1) year. San Bernardino Community College District accepts applications for Federal Work Study, hourly positions on a continuous basis. However, this does not imply the department is actively recruiting for this position. If there is an interest and/or need within the specific department, applicants who meet the requirements will be contact by the department representative.

Student workers will assist College Corps staff with day-to-day program operations, student engagement activities, and administrative support.

Student workers are responsible for supporting College Corps events, workshops, trainings, outreach efforts, and office functions. Students may be cross trained in multiple areas and provide assistance with general office duties, student communications, event support, marketing, and program activities. Students will work closely with College Corps staff to help maintain organized program records, support student engagement efforts, and contribute to a positive experience for program participants.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Providing general program information and assistance to students

  • Maintaining calendars, documents, forms, sign-in sheets, and RSVP lists

  • Supporting student communications and outreach efforts

  • Assisting with workshops, trainings, meetings, and special events

  • Helping with event preparation, set-up, check-in, and participant support

  • Creating social media content and promotional materials

  • Assisting with newsletters, presentations, and other communication materials

  • Supporting campus and community outreach activities

  • Performing data entry, filing, photocopying, and other clerical duties

  • Assisting staff with special projects and other duties as assigned

Must have the ability to work effectively with a diverse student population and demonstrate professionalism when interacting with students, staff, faculty, and community partners.

Due to the sensitive nature of student and program information, student workers will be expected to maintain a high level of confidentiality and complete a Live Scan.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Students must possess a Federal Work-Study award for the current academic year.
  • Students must enroll in a minimum of 6 units fall and spring semester; 3 units' summer.
  • Students must have a minimum of 2.0 GPA.
  • Students must have a current TB.
  • Ability to follow directions to perform the duties as assigned.
  • Must maintain strict confidentiality regarding all confidential information disclosed.
  • Students must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)

Students cannot fall below half-time (6+ units) during their employment under the FWS program.

Work is performed primarily in a standard office setting.

Physical:

Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to occasionally lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight up to 25 pounds; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; and to verbally communicate to exchange information. This position also requires assisting Blue's Pantry with deliveries, stocking, etc. and will require appropriate attire.

Vision:

See in the normal visual range with or without correction; vision sufficient to read computer screens and printed documents; and to operate assigned equipment.

Hearing:

Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.

  • Submit to and successfully pass DOJ live scan/fingerprinting. Cost of live-scan services to borne by candidate.
  • Sealed official transcript(s) in envelope from institution or electronic copies emailed directly from institution (for positions with higher education requirement)
  • Tuberculosis (TB) risk assessment
  • Other pre-employment requirements may require depending on the position (i.e., certifications or licenses; see job posting qualifications section for details).

Successful completion of all pre-employment requirements is mandatory to be eligible for employment. These requirements are in accordance with the San Bernardino Community College District's Administrative Procedures and Board Policies
