    Pay Rate: $9.00 – $12.00 / hour

    Work-Study: Federal/Texas Permit                      

    Schedule: Part-Time (Mon–Fri, 8 AM–5 PM window)

    Employment Dates: August 20, 2026 – May 14, 2027

    The Office of Student Career Preparedness is seeking a dependable and customer-focused Front Desk Associate for the 2026–2027 academic year. Our office educates and empowers students and alumni of East Texas A&M University to achieve employment success throughout their college careers and beyond. As a Front Desk Associate, you will serve as the initial point of contact for visitors, manage daily office flow, and support career services initiatives.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Customer Service & Front Desk Operations

    • Welcome visitors, answer phone inquiries, and assist students, staff, and employers with care and professionalism.
    • Serve as a primary resource and referral contact for campus guests, directing them to appropriate resources.
    • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming front desk, lobby, and kiosk area; monitor office supplies and remove outdated promotional materials.

    Administrative & Digital Support

    • Schedule student appointments with career advisors and maintain office logs.
    • Review and process incoming employer job postings within the Handshake platform.

    Maintain and update office spreadsheets, records, and digital

    Teamwork&ProfessionalDevelopment

    •  Collaborateandmaintainconsistentcommunicationwithsupervisorsandcareerstaff.

    •  Participateactivelyinmandatorystudentstaffmeetingsandscheduledtrainingsessions(Fall2026/ Spring 2027).

    QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

    • Work-Study Permit: Must possess an approved Federal or Institutional Work-Study permit for Fall 2026 – Spring 2027.
    • Academic Standing: Currently enrolled student (Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, or Senior classification) with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0.
    • Availability: Ability to work flexible part-time hours within office operation hours (Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM).
    • Work Authorization: Valid U.S. work authorization is required.
    • Professionalism: Adherence to business casual attire during working hours.

    DESIRED SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

    • Strong customer service orientation, phone etiquette, and active listening skills.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong attention to detail.
    • Proven ability to multitask, solve problems, and remain organized in a fast-paced environment.
    • Demonstrated punctuality, trustworthiness, self-motivation, and a strong work ethic.
    • Proficiency with general computer applications (MS Office Suite, Google Workspace, typing, web research).
    • Preferred (Bonus): Knowledge of Handshake, Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign/Photoshop), and social media platforms.
