    Job Title: Delivery Driver

    Department: Delivery

    General Function

    Drives a company vehicle over an established route to facilitate the delivery of perishable flowers, plants, lawn & garden and durable hard goods in a timely manner. Hours of operation are seven days a week. Specific scheduling for this position will be discussed during the interview process and will adjust based on the fluctuation of business and holidays.

    Reporting Relations

    Accountable and Reports to: General Manager & Operations Manager

    Positions that Report to you: None

    Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Deliver packages to designated locations on time.

    • Assist in loading company trucks for delivery of product.

    • Sort packages by route, customer, or commodity.

    • Understand proper packaging techniques for all items, including fresh, perishable, flowers and durable goods.

    • Assist in the packaging of fresh flowers.

    • Use a dolly or two-wheeler to load/unload product.

    • Collect empty containers, rejected, or unsold merchandise from the customer.

    • Obtain customer’s signature on shipping manifest.

    • Refuel company vehicles using corporate fleet card.

    • Advise company of routine maintenance needed on company vans.

    • Perform duties in a timely manner.

    • Perform other miscellaneous duties as necessary.

    • Report to work when scheduled and on time; works evenings and weekends as needed.

    Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Use a box strapping machine to prepare packages.

    • Assist in keeping the packaging area clean.

    • Move packaging containers and material to appropriate place in warehouse.

    • Perform other miscellaneous duties as necessary.

     Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Worker Characteristics:

    • Commitment and willingness to promote the values of the company.

    • Must have a valid driver’s license and provide a Department of Transportation driving record.

    • Must be at least age 18.

    • Ability to read and obey MSDS information on products.

    • Must have the ability to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or verbal instructions.

    • Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers.

    • Other duties may be asked of this position due to fluctuating business, must possess the ability to adapt to change and be versatile depending on the situation.

    • Must be able to meet deadlines and handle multiple priorities.

     Education and Experience:

    Six months or less of similar or related work experience. Must be at least 18 years of age and have a valid driver’s license.

    Physical Requirements:

    • Must be able to perform work duties in a refrigerated environment.

    • Must be able to physically perform light to moderate work: exerting/lifting 50 - 100 lbs. of force occasionally, 10-40 lbs. frequently.

    • Visual abilities required include clarity at all distances, color and peripheral vision, and depth perception.

    Working Conditions:

    The duties of this position are performed in a warehouse setting. There is frequent exposure to noise and continual exposure to warehouse temperature changes.

    Equipment Used To Perform Job:

    Company van, two-wheel hand truck, knife, pallet jack, and four-wheel carts.

    Contacts:

    Has daily contact with employees, customers, suppliers/vendors, and the general public.
