    Job Overview

    The Family Support Clerk serves the Maxwell Gunter Air Force families in a housing resource customer service role. This role provides a broad range of administrative services with the Maxwell AFB Airman and Family Readiness Center (AFRC) for active duty, guard, reserve, DOD civilian employees, retirees and eligible family members. This office is critical to the morale and development of these customers. As a family housing clerk, you conduct activities and services to ensure goals are accomplished for the AFRC mission and contractual obligations. This is full time, union, onsite role on Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, Alabama.

    Responsibilities

    Essential Job Duties:

    • Provides accurate and timely customer assistance.
    • Greets customers with professional courtesy and utilizes proper telephone etiquette.
    • Prepares and processes correspondence, reports and forms. Operates office equipment. Assists customers and answers telephones.
    • Responsible for performing all assigned duties as safely and efficiently as possible.
    • Under the direction of the Housing Manager, oversees procurement/acquisitions process; monitors receipt of all orders.
    • Maintains calendars and schedules appointments for customers to meet with staff.
    • Verifies eligibility of customers and assists them in completing documents for visit.
    • Refers complex problems concerning customers to Housing Manager for guidance or resolution.
    • Tracks customer utilization.
    • Maintains files of correspondence, directives, instructions, and other publications.
    • Performs general housekeeping of common areas and work area/center.
    • Complies with policies, directives, instructions, and procedures.
    • Assists with all non-conformance, corrective, and preventative actions.
    • Provides support for special functions, special interest events, and projects.
    • Performs additional duties as assigned in accordance with contractual, functional, and mission requirements.

    Job Requirements

    Mandatory:

    • 2+ years of related experience required.
    • Preferred; 4+ years of experience in a business setting and experience in a housing environment, and/or a military environment.
    • Associate degree, preferred.
    • Experience and comfort level with multitasking between face to face and telephone customer service with detailed office support work.
    • Ability to collaborate with a variety of people in a professional, courteous manner in diversified situations.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and in internet navigation.
    • The work is mostly seated; with the occasional need to lift/carry <10 lbs.
    • Ability to successfully pass any background checks and/or drug testing required on the contract.
    • U.S. Citizenship.
