LSF is seeking a talented Family Specialist who wants to make an impact in the lives of others.

Purpose and Impact:

The Family support staff is responsible for providing Center orientation to new families and providing direct assistance to families that require additional support in completing applications or referral consents. The position will assist in the implementation and facilitation of family support programming and facilitating center-driven programming and events.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist in development and implementation of family support programming
  • Provide Center orientation to new families
  • Provide direct assistance to families that require additional support in completing applications or referral consents
  • Refer and link families to appropriate programs and community resources as needed
  • Coordinate and facilitate Center-driven programming and events
  • Support partner agencies with program registration and follow-up
  • Support the efforts of all CBFRC staff
  • Document services, maintain records, complete reports, purchase supplies, input data into a data base system
  • Ensure Center is a safe warm welcoming environment for all
  • Maintain cooperative working relationship with co-workers, supervisors, families, partners and the community
  • Work to support Center and collaborative outcomes
  • Follow all CBFRC Policies and Procedures
  • Perform targeted outreach as needed
  • Perform daily operating procedures
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Must demonstrate sensitivity to our service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics and needs.

  • Practice Family Support Principles
  • Cross trained to perform daily operating procedures
  • Participate in Center events and work to support contractual outcomes
  • Obtain training in the Center data system: Attendance and Needs Tracking System and maintain member confidentiality
  • Bilingual employees may be needed to review and/or translate (verbal or written communications)
  • Attend mandatory trainings and perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

The Family Specialist position requires the ability to perform a combination of client-facing, administrative, and community-based duties in both office and field environments. The role involves prolonged periods of sitting while completing case documentation, entering data, and conducting phone or virtual meetings, as well as frequent standing, walking, and traveling to client homes, schools, community agencies, or service providers. The specialist must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, conduct in-person assessments, facilitate service planning, and provide support and referrals to families with diverse needs. The position requires strong visual acuity and attention to detail for maintaining accurate records, reviewing case files, and completing required documentation in compliance with program guidelines. Occasional lifting of light to moderate materials (up to 20–25 pounds), such as educational materials or outreach supplies, may be required. The work environment may include both climate-controlled office settings and variable community environments, with potential exposure to differing weather conditions, noise levels, and home or field visit settings. The role also requires the ability to manage multiple cases, respond to crisis situations, and maintain professionalism in potentially stressful or emotionally charged circumstances. Flexibility in scheduling, including evenings and weekends, may be necessary to meet the needs of families and program requirements.

Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associate degree preferred.

Experience:

A minimum of two years’ experience in serving families.

Skills:

The Specialist will be knowledgeable in community resources to provide assistance in implementing strength-based family programming and facilitating center-driven programming or events. In certain programs, Spanish-English bilingual proficiency (or other bilingual proficiency) is required because the position provides direct services to program participants, a substantial portion of whom have limited English proficiency. Effective communication in both English and Spanish (or other client spoken languages) is essential to perform the duties of the position safely and effectively and to ensure meaningful access to program services. When not required by the program, bilingual skills may otherwise be preferred.

  • Liaison to community providers.
  • Adherence to agency policies and procedures.
  • Must maintain confidentiality of all client information
