Description

A busy litigation law firm is seeking an experienced matrimonial attorney with extensive experience handling divorce cases in New York City, Nassau, and/or Suffolk Counties. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with our matrimonial team to develop and implement effective legal strategies, delivering high-level professional representation for clients facing complex divorce and child custody matters.

We are looking for a candidate with strong litigation and courtroom experience, including handling cases from the preliminary conference stage through hearing or trial, as well as conducting examinations before trial (EBTs). A demonstrated passion, enthusiasm, and commitment to the practice of matrimonial law is essential.

Job Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

Independently prepare and appear in court to persuasively advocate for clients at pre-trial conferences, preliminary conferences, status conferences, hearings, trials, and compliance conferences
Conduct legal research and draft legal briefs, pendente lite applications, and memoranda related to trial and pre-trial issues
Competently manage all aspects of pre-trial discovery, including drafting and responding to discovery demands, taking and defending depositions
Actively contribute to trial preparation, including:
Preparing exhibits for court and opposing counsel
Interviewing witnesses
Preparing clients for direct and cross-examinations
Drafting statements of proposed disposition and pretrial memoranda

Qualifications

Requirements:

Prior courtroom experience handling divorce matters is required
Strong writing, communication, and advocacy skills
Ability to manage cases independently while collaborating with a supportive team
Position available immediately. Compensation is commensurate with experience.
