ORGANIZATION County: Dauphin Entity: Harrisburg S D Department: Administration Reports To: Federal Programs Administrator JOB SUMMARY To provide educational and support services as part of the network of assistance for students, parent involvement, family, and community engagement in Title I schools. Essential Functions Essential Functions % TIME Provides orientation to parents in the philosophy, policies and practices of parent involvement, especially with Title I programs. Provides services as liaison between student, home, parent, school, and community resources such as family services agencies. 25% Supports and works with parents, Social Workers, Counselors, and community agencies that can contribute resources to assist families as needed to enhance the school's climate and student achievement. 25% Organizes communication and activities in assigned Title I school among the teachers, parents, community and school administrators. Assists with the dissemination of information regarding parent involvement including books, tutorial services to reinforce skills and educational games/materials for the entire family. 20% Makes home visits as needed and works with parents regarding ways in which they can help their children improve their academic achievement. Coordinates parent and staff training initiatives days, evenings and weekends and provides technical assistance to teachers and home visitors. 15% Collaborates with administrators to implement parent engagement programs according to state and federal guidelines and District policy and procedures. Provides parents of children with disabilities with information on state and federal disability laws and facilitates their interaction with the appropriate staff to address concerns about their student's needs. 5% Participates in on-going professional development by attending workshops to enhance job performance as directed or approved by the supervisor. 5% Works in Title I Schools and Early Childhood Centers to ensure homeless children and their families' needs are identified and steps are taken to meet those needs through school resources and community agencies. 5% Performs other duties as assigned.
