    Sacred Heart University invites applications from qualified candidates for a full-time, non-tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Teaching Professor in the Department of Biology, with an anticipated start date of Fall 2027.Applicants should demonstrate the potential for excellence in undergraduate biology instruction, particularly in foundational biology courses for both majors and non-majors, while embracing the University's student-centered mission and commitment to academic excellence.The successful candidate will primarily teach in our Concepts in Biology sequence (first year major's Introduction to Biology class) and contribute to instruction in Ecology and/or Microbiology, depending on expertise and departmental needs. Candidates with the interest and ability to develop an engaging foundational biology course for non-science majors in their area of expertise are especially encouraged to apply.Instruction in sophomore-level Ecology laboratories includes supervising field-based experiences at forest and coastal study sites located within a 25-minute drive of Sacred Heart University, in addition to traditional laboratory instruction.The successful candidate will join a collegial and collaborative department dedicated to excellence in teaching, student mentorship, and experiential learning. They will be expected to contribute positively to the department's instructional mission while fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment in which all students can thrive.

    Qualifications:

    Candidates with an advanced degree in Biology or a related field in the biological sciences are invited to apply (ABD considered).Significant teaching and post-doctoral experiences preferred.Candidates should also support Sacred Heart University's intellectual and ethical development of all students and value the University's Catholic identity, tradition, and spirit.Ecology candidates must be able to drive an 8-passenger van to field sites.
