This role is well suited for a recent graduate or early-career Electrical Engineer who enjoys hands-on troubleshooting, working with schematics, testing circuits, and identifying the root cause of electronic failures. Understand the function and operation of electronic components including resistors, capacitors, diodes, transistors, ICs, sensors, connectors, and other circuit components.

Position Summary:
We are seeking an Entry-Level Failure Analysis Engineer to support the investigation, troubleshooting, and resolution of electronic failures in medical devices and related assemblies. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in Electrical Engineering, circuit analysis, analog and digital electronics, and electronic component failure modes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform failure analysis and troubleshooting of electronic circuits, boards, and assemblies used in medical devices.
• Analyze analog and digital circuits to identify component-, circuit-, and assembly-level failures.
• Review and interpret electrical schematics, circuit diagrams, and engineering drawings.
• Understand the function and operation of electronic components including resistors, capacitors, diodes, transistors, ICs, sensors, connectors, and other circuit components.
• Identify and investigate common failure modes of electronic components and assemblies, including open circuits, short circuits, intermittent failures, component degradation, overheating, and incorrect electrical behavior.
• Use circuit analysis and laboratory test equipment to isolate faults and determine root causes.
• Develop and execute troubleshooting and failure-analysis test plans.
• Design, build, modify, and assemble prototype circuits and test fixtures to support failure investigations and product testing.
• Document test results, observations, failure mechanisms, and root-cause findings in clear technical reports.
• Work with cross-functional teams including Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Quality, Reliability, Manufacturing, and R&D.
• Support root-cause investigations and corrective/preventive actions related to electronic product failures.
• Maintain accurate engineering and test documentation in accordance with company procedures and applicable medical-device requirements.
• Follow established laboratory, safety, quality, and documentation procedures.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
• Strong academic or hands-on knowledge of electrical and electronic circuit analysis.
• Understanding of analog and digital electronics.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and circuit diagrams.
• Knowledge of common failure modes of electronic components and assemblies.
• Understanding of how individual electronic components function within a circuit.
• Ability to troubleshoot electronic circuits and identify potential causes of failure.
• Hands-on experience with laboratory equipment such as:
  • Digital multimeter (DMM)
  • Oscilloscope
  • Power supply
  • Function/signal generator
  • Electronic load
• Ability to design, build, solder, modify, and assemble prototype circuits or test fixtures.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Internship, academic project, laboratory, or co-op experience involving electronics troubleshooting or failure analysis.
• Experience with PCB assemblies, circuit boards, or embedded electronics.
• Knowledge of SPICE-based circuit simulation tools such as LTspice, PSpice, or similar.
• Familiarity with PCB design or schematic tools such as Altium, OrCAD, KiCad, or similar.
• Exposure to root-cause analysis, 5-Why, Fishbone/Ishikawa, or other problem-solving methodologies.
• Experience working in a medical device, automotive, aerospace, consumer electronics, or other regulated industry.
• Basic understanding of FDA, ISO 13485, or other medical-device quality requirements is a plus.
• Familiarity with reliability testing and environmental/functional testing is a plus.
