The College of Technical Sciences at Montana State University-Northern (MSUN) invites applications for a 10-month academic-year faculty position in AutomotiveDiesel Technology (ATDI) to begin August 1, 2026. This position may be filled as a tenure track Assistant Professor or a non-tenure track Lecturer.

Position Details
MSU-Northern is seeking a faculty member for its world-class Automotive and Diesel Technology Programs. Applicants qualifying for either tenure track or non-tenure track are encouraged to apply.
Duties and Responsibilities
The faculty member in this position will teach approximately 24 credit hours of lecture-laboratory courses per academic year. Courses assigned will primarily be in automotive technology with the potential assignment of other courses that are relevant to both the automotive and dieselag mechanics industries. Topics include but may not limit to electricalelectronics, automotive technology, engines, engine diagnostics, brakes, steering, suspension, and autodieselag mechanics, e.g. HeatingAir Conditioning.
Academic and career advising will be a responsibility associated with this position. In addition, the successful candidate will be involved in curriculum development, lab and classroom maintenance, program growth, and program assessment, and will work with an external industry-specific advisory board to ensure program quality and student employability.
Academic responsibilities will also include serving on campus committees, engaging in campus activities, and serving as an ambassador for and collegiate member of the College of Technical Sciences.
Required Qualifications
Assistant Professor or Lecturer 1
Education and experience commensurate with rank. Recent industry work experience with a strong background in electricalelectronics, engines, automotivediesel systems. Demonstrated excellence in written and oral communication. Demonstrated strength in interpersonal skills.
Note: For tenure track, a masters degree will be required for tenure. A bachelors degree in automotive technology or related field will be required to be considered for the rank of Assistant Professor.
