About this Job

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) is responsible for managing and protecting the state's renewable natural resources, including all wildlife and aquatic life. LDWF supports a strong work ethic in its employees and incorporates the use of good science, accurate information and technology.

The Facility Project Supervisor is responsible for building, maintaining, and improving the land and structures for the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF). Will execute construction and repair projects from a facility planning standpoint from start to finish in conjunction with other department sections. Direct supervision over one full-time employee, while overseeing planning, scheduling and supervision of construction of new projects and maintenance and repairs of over 350 buildings. Initiates, researches, designs, write specifications, supervises, inspects, and coordinates the work of contractors engaged in construction and maintenance / repair projects in the LDWF portfolio. Will assist supervisor in profiling the infrastructure of LDWF buildings and structures to ensure critical needs for maintenance, repairs, and upgrades are prioritized properly.

Minimum Qualifications

Six years of experience in landscape architecture, architecture, engineering, or interior design; OR

A bachelors degree in landscape architecture, architecture, engineering, or interior design plus three years of experience in landscape architecture, architecture, engineering, or interior design; OR

A current Louisiana license in landscape architecture, architecture, engineering, or interior design plus three years of experience in landscape architecture, architecture, engineering, or interior design.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:

  • Directs purchasing and requisitions to ensure adequate inventory of materials, supplies, and equipment for various buildings for the agency.
  • Prepare and develop standardized maintenance and preventative maintenance procedures for office staff.
  • Responsible for supervising, overseeing, and developing construction projects for all divisions of the LDWF agency. Projects may include a variety of project types including building, maintaining, and improving the land and structures (buildings, levees, weirs, water control structures, canals, bank stabilization devices, boat landings, boat docks, bulkheads).
  • Demolition and additions to existing office space and structures and renovations to buildings, grounds, and structures.
  • Plans and approves materials used in construction, repair, renovation of buildings, structures, land, pond, or boating access projects.
  • Supervisory duties - various administrative functions for personnel management.
  • Capital Outlay / Budget requests - initiates research of designs, prepares agency request, writes specifications for and prepares requisitions for construction contracts. Conducts pre-bid construction meetings with potential contractors following established State Purchasing guidelines. Coordination with all Activities with Division of Administration / State Facility Planning and Control; Coordinates and advises FEMA on LDWF needs following natural disasters.
