The Facilities Assistant supports the day-to-day operations, maintenance, and appearance of company facilities. This role assists with building upkeep, furniture moves, preventive maintenance activities, vendor coordination, inventory management, and general facility support to ensure a safe, clean, and functional work environment for employees and visitors.
The ideal candidate is dependable, service-oriented, hands-on, and able to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of professionalism.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Facility Assistant contributes to the growth and success of Canyon Equities by achieving the following objectives:
- Assist with light maintenance tasks, including changing light bulbs, trash removal on property, salting sidewalks, and minor repairs
- Perform regular building inspections and audits to ensure safety, cleanliness, and maintenance standards are met
- Serve as the first level of escalation for after-hours and weekend facility emergencies unless otherwise scheduled
- Maintain and update the CMMS system for work order entry, status updates, and reporting
- Supports the Facility Manager with building’s security card access system, including user management and system functionality within platforms such as Feenics and HID Mobile Access
- Monitor and support the building’s camera systems, ensuring equipment is operational and coordinating repairs or updates as needed
- Provide general support for company events, meetings, or general office needs as required
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of common areas, meeting rooms, and storage areas
- Maintain inventory of supplies, tools, and equipment
- Respond to tenant and internal work order requests, ensuring timely resolution and communication
- Support the Facility Manager with preventative maintenance schedules for building systems and infrastructure
- Participate in evaluating vendor performance and recommending improvements or changes as needed
- Support safety initiatives, including seasonal preparedness, building security protocols, and emergency response readiness
- Ensure compliance with building codes, environmental regulations, and safety standards
QUALIFICATIONS
- Working knowledge of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, etc.)
- Familiarity with CMMS platforms
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and respond to emergencies
- Basic skills in light maintenance tasks and use of hand tools
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- 1–3 years of facilities, maintenance, building operations, or related experience.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally between sites
- Must be available for on-call support during evenings and weekends as needed
- Must have ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Willingness to perform indoor/outdoor work in varying weather conditions
