Job SummaryThe Facilities Director provides leadership and oversight for company-wide facility operations, maintenance, custodial services, and security functions across multiple locations. This role ensures facilities remain safe, compliant, and operational to support daily freight and delivery operations while overseeing facility projects, budgets, vendors, and staff. Frequent travel between company locations is required.Hours and WagesExempt salary positionStarting wage: $97,000-$128,000 per year, based on relevant years of experience, education, certifications, and comparison to other employees already in this roleDuties and ResponsibilitiesProvide leadership and oversight for all company-wide facility operations including building maintenance, custodial operations, grounds maintenance, and security functions Oversee the maintenance and operational readiness of terminals, warehouses, docks, office facilities, and exterior grounds to support transportation and package delivery operations Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs and facility standards across all company locations Supervise facility management staff, maintenance personnel, custodial employees, and security teams Establish and monitor facility maintenance schedules for HVAC systems, dock equipment, overhead doors, lighting, plumbing, electrical systems, and security systems Ensure facilities remain compliant with OSHA, DOT, environmental, fire safety, and company operational standards Lead facility-related projects including remodels, expansions, renovations, infrastructure upgrades, and operational improvement initiatives Review and approve company-wide facility expenses, maintenance invoices, capital expenditures, and repair costs Develop, manage, and monitor facility and maintenance budgets company-wide Negotiate and manage contracts, leases, and service agreements with vendors, contractors, and facility providers Inspect and approve work completed by outside contractors and service providers Coordinate emergency repairs and facility-related operational disruptions to minimize downtime within transportation operations Oversee facility security measures including building access controls, alarm systems, surveillance systems, and terminal security procedures Conduct facility inspections to identify maintenance concerns, safety risks, and opportunities for operational improvements Coordinate snow removal, groundskeeping, and seasonal property maintenance for all company locations Conduct monthly fuel testing and oversee yearly watershed reporting requirements for the State of Minnesota as required Maintain accurate facility records, inspection documentation, compliance reporting, and maintenance tracking systems Hire, onboard, train, mentor, and evaluate facility and maintenance employees Facilitate leadership meetings and collaborate with operations leadership regarding facility needs, growth planning, and operational priorities Frequent travel between facilities Perform other related duties as assigned Skills and AbilitiesAbility to prioritize tasks and delegate when necessaryExcellent organizational, planning, and project management abilities Strong leadership, employee development, and team management skills Ability to manage multiple facilities, projects, and operational priorities simultaneously Knowledge of facility maintenance systems, warehouse operations, security systems, and transportation terminal environments Strong communication and vendor management skills Ability to develop budgets and manage facility-related expenses effectively Ability to respond effectively to emergencies and operational disruptionsProficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related softwareEducation and ExperienceAt least 21 years of age High school diploma or equivalent required Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Construction Management, HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Business Management, or related field preferred Previous leadership or director-level management experience preferred 7+ years of experience in facilities management, building maintenance, transportation terminal operations, custodial operations, or related field preferred Experience managing multi-site operations, vendors, contractors, and facility improvement projects preferred Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record required Must hold or obtain a valid forklift certification Must hold or obtain OSHA 30 certificationPhysical RequirementsAbility to pass a DOT physicalAbility to lift up to 50 repetitively and up to 100 pounds occasionallySome overhead lifting involvedFull range of motion with no limits on grasping, standing, squatting, stair climbing, walking, etc.Work environment requires time spent outdoors in changing weather elements as well as in a vehicleAbility to work with all types to freight which include, but are not limited to hazardous material, perishable food and alcohol, firearms, ammunition, and live animalsBenefitsHealth Insurance, Dental Insurance, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off (PTO), Employee Assistance Program, 401(k) Plan, Quarterly Bonuses, and more.EEO and Affirmative Action StatementSpee Dee Delivery Service, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer.
