The NEEDS Center is a nonprofit organization that provides service and support for adults with autism and other developmental disabilities in our Day Program and 7 Residential Group Homes. The Facilities Technician is responsible for the upkeep, repair, and overall maintenance of these properties. This hands-on role includes performing a wide range of maintenance tasks, responding to service requests, and helping to ensure a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for the individuals we support and our staff.
Hours: Monday-Friday, 8am-4pm
Pay: $21.00 - $22.50 / Hour
Location: Orange Park
Key Responsibilities
- Perform basic carpentry tasks including hanging doors, installing or repairing cabinets and countertops, and completing trim work.
- Complete drywall installation and repairs, as well as prepping and painting interior and exterior surfaces.
- Respond to maintenance requests promptly and follow through to completion according to organizational priorities.
- Diagnose issues and make minor plumbing, electrical, and structural repairs.
- Maintain outdoor areas including mowing lawns, trimming shrubs and hedges, and removing leaves.
- Ensure maintenance tools and equipment are clean, safe, and properly stored.
- Participate in the emergency on-call rotation for after-hours maintenance needs.
- Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance in accordance with established programs; identify and recommend necessary improvements.
- Collaborate professionally and respectfully with residents, staff, and supervisors.
- Maintain confidentiality and handle all sensitive information appropriately.
- Accurately complete documentation such as work order forms, logs, and timesheets.
- Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned by the manager

- Follow all organizational policies, including those related to professional conduct and consumer privacy (HIPAA).
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational or technical training preferred.
- At least 2 years of relevant property maintenance experience strongly preferred.
- Experience in residential settings is a plus.
- Proficiency in basic carpentry, plumbing, and electrical work.
- Skilled in drywall repair, painting preparation, and finish painting.
- Familiarity with safe use of hand and power tools.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
- Positive, cooperative attitude with a commitment to high-quality work.
- Knowledge of HVAC systems and preventative maintenance is a plus.
- Good communication skills in English; multilingual abilities are a plus.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
- Reliable, responsible, and self-motivated.
