    Facilities Technician | Taylor, MI | Non-Exempt | On-site
     
    We are looking for an experienced Facilities Technician to perform building and grounds maintenance, support facility repairs, coordinate contractor work, maintain preventive maintenance documentation, and help ensure our buildings and equipment meet company and safety standards. Qualified candidates should have at least 5 years of building and grounds maintenance experience, basic electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and HVAC knowledge, Microsoft Office skills, a valid driver’s license, and reliable transportation.

    About the Role
    We are seeking an experienced Facilities Technician to support the upkeep, repair, and overall maintenance of our buildings, grounds, and related facility equipment. This position plays an important role in maintaining a safe, clean, functional, and compliant work environment by performing hands-on maintenance tasks, coordinating facility repairs, and supporting building standards.
    The ideal candidate will have strong building and grounds maintenance experience, a practical understanding of electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and HVAC systems, and the ability to work effectively with internal team members, contractors, and code enforcement representatives.
     
    Key Responsibilities
    • Perform general building and grounds maintenance to support company standards and code compliance.
    • Maintain effective working relationships with facility employees, contractors, and code enforcement representatives.
    • Assist with minor maintenance repairs, including building equipment repairs, exhaust fan motor replacement, plumbing repairs, 110-volt electrical repairs, carpentry, drywall, painting, and light fixture replacement.
    • Maintain buildings and associated equipment in good working condition.
    • Coordinate and oversee outside contractors for building-related work to help ensure jobs are completed properly and meet company requirements.
    • Maintain and manage preventive maintenance documentation.
    • Support inventory tracking of building furnishings and recommend replacement or refurbishment when needed.
    • Operate lift trucks during work order assignments as needed.
    • Follow all company health and safety policies, as well as applicable government codes and standards.
    • Perform other facility-related duties as assigned.
    Qualifications
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in building and grounds maintenance.
    • Basic knowledge and hands-on experience with electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Outlook, and Word.
    • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
    • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
    • Regular and reliable attendance is required.
    Preferred Skills
    • Strong troubleshooting and repair skills.
    • Ability to work independently and prioritize work orders.
    • Good communication skills when working with employees, contractors, and outside service providers.
    • Strong attention to safety, quality, and facility standards.
    • Ability to maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
    Physical and Work Environment Requirements
    This position may require standing, walking, bending, lifting, climbing, use of tools and equipment, and working in various areas of the facility, including production, maintenance, office, and outdoor environments. The employee must be able to safely perform essential job duties, with or without reasonable accommodation.
