Description

Mechanical Maintenance Technician

Pay Rate: $28.00-$32.00/hour

1st Shift: 7:00am to 3:30pm

Typically 45-46 hours per week with the ability to work up to 50 hours per week at times

Position Overview:
 We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Technician to support a manufacturing facility with approximately 60 injection molding machines. This is a hands-on mechanical maintenance position focused on keeping production machinery and supporting equipment operating safely and efficiently.

The Mechanical Maintenance Technician will perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and general mechanical work on manufacturing equipment and related systems. Equipment may include injection molding machinery, chillers, dryers, water heaters, piping systems, filters, CNC equipment, conveyors, automation equipment, and other production machinery.

Injection molding experience is not required. The ideal candidate has a solid mechanical maintenance background working on industrial equipment or machinery and is comfortable diagnosing mechanical problems, replacing components, performing preventative maintenance, and completing basic equipment repairs.

This position is heavily focused on the mechanical side of maintenance. Candidates should have basic electrical knowledge, including electrical safety awareness and the ability to perform simple tasks such as using a multimeter and checking voltage. PLC programming, software troubleshooting, and advanced electrical work are not part of this position and will be handled by the Automation Department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform preventative and corrective mechanical maintenance on manufacturing machinery and production equipment.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical equipment issues and determine appropriate repairs or component replacements.
  • Support the maintenance of approximately 60 injection molding machines throughout the facility.
  • Perform maintenance and repairs on chillers, dryers, water heaters, piping, filters, and other systems supporting production machinery.
  • Perform filter changes, basic piping repairs, equipment adjustments, and routine mechanical servicing.
  • Complete basic mechanical repairs on CNC equipment as needed.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot conveyors, automation machinery, and other industrial production equipment.
  • Inspect machinery for mechanical wear, damaged components, leaks, alignment issues, and other potential equipment problems.
  • Replace worn or damaged mechanical components and assist with equipment installation or modifications as needed.
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance to reduce equipment downtime and maintain production reliability.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, measuring equipment, and maintenance tools to complete repairs safely and accurately.
  • Use a multimeter to perform basic electrical checks such as verifying voltage when necessary.
  • Follow proper electrical safety and equipment shutdown procedures before performing maintenance or repairs.
  • Recognize electrical or automation issues that require escalation to the appropriate Automation Department personnel.
  • Work closely with production and maintenance team members to identify equipment issues and minimize manufacturing downtime.
  • Follow all established maintenance procedures, lockout/tagout requirements, and plant safety standards.
Qualifications
  • Previous hands-on experience performing mechanical maintenance on industrial equipment, machinery, or manufacturing equipment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and repair machinery.
  • Experience performing preventative maintenance, equipment repairs, and mechanical component replacement.
  • Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and standard industrial maintenance equipment.
  • Basic electrical knowledge and understanding of electrical hazards and proper equipment shutdown procedures.
  • Basic ability to use a multimeter and perform simple voltage checks.
  • Ability to identify and troubleshoot mechanical equipment problems independently.
  • Strong understanding of industrial and manufacturing safety practices.
  • Reliable attendance and ability to work the required first-shift schedule and overtime as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience maintaining conveyors, automated production equipment, or other industrial machinery.
  • Experience working with chillers, dryers, water heaters, piping, filters, or similar equipment.
  • Previous experience performing basic mechanical maintenance or repairs on CNC equipment.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing or high-volume production environment.
  • Previous experience around injection molding equipment is helpful but not required.
Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate is a hands-on mechanical maintenance professional who is comfortable troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining industrial machinery. This person should have strong mechanical skills and experience working directly on manufacturing equipment such as conveyors, automated machinery, CNC equipment, chillers, dryers, piping, or similar systems. Injection molding experience is not required. Basic electrical knowledge, electrical safety awareness, and the ability to use a multimeter for simple checks are important, but this position does not involve PLC programming, software troubleshooting, or advanced electrical work.
