Facilities Technician

Position Overview
The Facilities Technician is responsible for performing a variety of maintenance and repair tasks to ensure the proper functioning and safety of The Center’s buildings and its equipment. This includes preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical systems, and other building infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
• Regularly inspect and perform preventative maintenance on key building systems (i.e. HVAC, plumbing, electrical).
• Support Operations Manager in drafting and implementing preventive maintenance schedules for buildings and equipment.
• Conduct routine inspections of The Center’s building exteriors (i.e. Groundskeeping, landscaping, pest control).
• Troubleshoot, repair and replace damaged building components (i.e. drywall, flooring, ceilings).
• Perform cleaning, carpentry and painting tasks.
• Ensure assigned equipment is in proper working order and available for use.
• Ensure the safe operation and maintenance of all building equipment.
• Maintains physical space, ensuring a safe, clean, organized and functional environment.
• Receives, manages, and processes work order requests; ensures problems are resolved quickly.
• Acts as liaison between employees and any outside contractors needed to resolve specialized problems.
• Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures and ensure safety standards are followed throughout the facility (local, state and federal).
• Participates in the emergency preparedness planning team.
• Applies or assists with application for required environmental permits.
• Maintains an inventory of supplies; reorders as needed.
• Assist with building renovations and upgrades.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and other team members.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
• Must be mechanically inclined with basic shop skills (electrical, plumbing and carpentry).
• Must be able to work with various materials and tools and operate heavy equipment.
• Must read, comprehend, and work from plans and operating instructions.
• Ability to perform well in a fast-paced environment.
• Must work a flexible schedule, including Sundays and evenings, as necessary.
• Ability to be trained on security responsibilities.
• Always maintain professional and courteous behavior and provide excellent customer service to all building users. 

Knowledge & Skills
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software necessary to create and maintain reports and logs.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements
• Prolonged periods of standing and walking throughout facilities.
• Must be able to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 pounds).
• Must be able to bend, lift, stretch, climb, and crawl to maintain equipment and buildings.
• Must be able to perform work in a variety of weather conditions.
• May be exposed to noise, dust and other hazards

 

Educational/Licensure Requirements
• At least two years of related experience is required.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Possess a valid driver’s license.
