    Facilities Technician

    Compensation: $19.70 per hour

    SUMMARY:

    Responsible for the provision of varied logistical and technical support for the successful operation of the lab; provides professional assistance to management staff in the area of assignment and related matters.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Manages procurement, receipt, and inventory of laboratory and building supplies.
    • Manages the testing of systems (Fume Hoods, Water Purification, etc.) and is responsible for submitting associated reports; maintains completed records.
    • Manages and coordinates the scheduling of service and preventative maintenance of equipment and systems within the lab on a regular schedule.
    • Monitors controlled systems within the facility; reports issues and coordinates service/maintenance as needed.
    • Assists with investigations related to lab environmental monitoring and purified water systems.
    • Responsible for overall laboratory conditions, including waste disposal, Environmental Health and Safety, and general facilities.
    • Manges Safety and Waste Coordinator responsibilities for the lab; acts as primary contact for waste disposal. Procures supplies and equipment to maintain facility operation.
    • Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the lab’s service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a work team.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education and Experience:

    Bachelor's degree in business or science; OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Previous lab experience is strongly preferred.

    Required Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:

    Continued employment is contingent upon all required licenses and certificates being maintained in active status without suspension or revocation.

    • Valid Driver's License.

    Required Knowledge and Skills

    Required Knowledge:

    • Policies, practices, and techniques of procurement.
    • Laboratory Environmental Health and Safety policies and practices.
    • Laboratory waste disposal policies and practices.
    • Techniques for dealing with internal support groups, vendors and service providers.
    • Standard vendor, price and purchasing reference sources for materials, equipment and supplies.
    • Computer applications and systems related to the work.
    • Records management principles and practices.
    • Techniques for working collaboratively with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
    • Correct business English, including spelling, grammar and punctuation.

    Required Skills:

    • Reading and interpreting purchase requests, specification and other written materials.
    • Learning, interpreting and applying applicable policies and procedures.
    • Preparing clear and concise reports, correspondence and other written materials.
    • Understanding and following oral and written directions.
    • Organizing own work, setting priorities and meeting critical deadlines.
    • Training others in policies and procedures related to the work.
    • Providing assistance and advice to staff.
    • Using tact, discretion and prudence in working with those contacted in the course of the work.

    Pace Analytical Services, LLC. provides analytical services including environmental testing and sampling. Laboratories utilize EPA, ASTM Standard Methods, NIOSH and other accepted test procedures and methods in accordance with both federal and state regulations. Pace also provides specialty analytical support for air toxics, aquatic toxicity, bioassay, biota, dioxin/furans, low-level mercury, radiochemistry, vapor intrusion, environmental forensics, industrial hygiene, etc.

    Pace Analytical Life Sciences provides analytical testing services to the pharmaceutical/medical device industries. Services include chemical and microbiology, method development/validation, physical testing, raw material testing, stability testing and storage, and product release testing. Pace operates two FDA-registered, DEA-registered (Class I - V), cGMP-compliant facilities: one located in Oakdale, MN and the other located in San German, PR. The Oakdale, MN facility is ISO/IEC 17025:2005 accredited.

    Pace Analytical Lab Ops Division provides professional scientific staffing - to accommodate full outsourcing or augmentation of staff at a client's on-site location - to various industries as well as research and development organizations. The ISO 9001:2008 certified Lab Ops Division also provides instrumentation sales, repair and qualification services, product and materials testing support and regulatory compliance services.
