First Presbyterian Church (First Pres) is seeking a dependable and service-oriented Facilities Technician to help maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for our congregation, staff, and community. This role plays a key part in supporting ministry by ensuring our campus is well cared for and ready for daily operations, events, and worship services.
Qualifications
Key Responsibilities
Maintain floors, including vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, and periodic deep cleaning
Clean and maintain restrooms, furniture, equipment, walls, and windows
Set up and tear down rooms for meetings, events, and worship services
Assist with special event preparation and facility readiness
Perform minor repairs (electrical, plumbing, equipment) and report larger issues
Operate and monitor heating and cooling systems
Maintain exterior areas, including entrances, sidewalks, and parking lots
Assist with snow removal and seasonal maintenance
Open and secure buildings as scheduled
Provide prompt, courteous assistance to staff, members, and visitors
Attend staff meetings, chapel, and other required gatherings
Support additional duties as needed to advance the ministry of First Pres
Education & Experience
High school diploma or GED required
Previous custodial or facilities experience preferred
Skills
Basic knowledge of cleaning techniques and equipment
Ability to perform minor maintenance and repairs
Comfortable operating HVAC systems and maintenance tools
Strong organizational and communication skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks and respond promptly to requests
