    Description

    Facilities & Special Construction Technician position available.  If you are looking for a full time year round position where you can showcase your facilities maintenance, carpentry, and other trade skills this job is for you.  This position is benefits eligible, pay is $28/hour-$40/hour dependent on experience and skills.  
     
    Job Summary:
    The Facilities & Special Construction Technician is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of all MCPS buildings, facilities, and grounds. Ensuring the buildings and facilities are well maintained and all systems are in functional and good working order. All repairs are attended to timely, and all preventive maintenance is completed according to schedule.  The Facilities & Special Construction Technician is also responsible for small but critical construction projects that may include electrical, plumbing, concrete/masonry, or carpentry work as they are assigned.
     
    Essential Duties and Responsibilities
    Buildings
    1. Exits, walkways & doorway clear of obstructions, snow & ice removal
    2. Exterior paint and signage is in well maintained and functional condition
    3. All heating and cooling systems are well maintained.
    4. Any roof leaks are addressed in short order
    5. All other duties as assigned
    Facilities
    1. Parking lot is sealed, striped and in good condition
    2. Lawn and underground sprinkler systems are well manicured and maintained
    3. Showrooms and remodels are overseen and executed
    Other
     
    Additional Duties and Responsibilities
    On an as needed basis, small construction projects completion may include plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and tile work.
     
    Education and Experience
    1. High School graduate or equivalent
    2. 2+ years Construction or facilities engineering experience
    3. Pool and Spa experience preferred
    4. Must possess a valid and insurable drivers license
    Competencies

    4. Stone & Tile work
    Physical Demands
    Must be able to perform the following functions, with or without accommodations:
    1. Able to lift 75 lbs.
    2. Able to climb ladders and scaffold
    3. Some work is done outside in snowy and cold weather
     
    Work Environment
    This position operates both indoor and outdoor with varying weather conditions.
